Throughout the episode, there were subtle signs that Mary could 'sense' Devil!Al's presence (she hesitated on the stairs with a frown on her face when she passed him, when he walked behind her after they got the candlesticks, she also had a weird look on her face as he passed by). So how the the Devil, disguised as the sheriff, get her into the car and drive her home without her sensing something?
- Maybe because the Devil took the form of someone she trusted.
- It's hinted the sheriff could sense Devil!Al too. When he, Sam, and 'Al' are in Mary's house, and 'Al' says he's going to pop out, the sheriff looks around with an odd expression on his face, almost as if he can hear something, but isn't sure.
Could Mary see the real Al when he finally showed up? Things were already very weird and scary for her when the 'sheriff' turned into a man she'd never seen before, but then he and her 'fiance' start talking to a third party that she can't see or hear.
