Headscratchers / Otherworldly Izakaya Nobu

• How are Taishou and Shinobu able to pay for everything in Nobu? Sure, they make a tidy sum from their customers, but that’s currency from the other world. How do they get to translate that into Yen? Do they melt the coins down and trade it in or something?
  • Later in the manga it's mentioned that they take the local currency and sell them to a precious metals/rare coins dealer in modern Japan... and in Isekai Izakaya Gen it's explained that it's the only place in the modern era that will take the coins. It's highly implied that it's run by the same inari spirit that opened the portal to the other world in the first place, as when the staff of Gen tries to exchange the coins in other places, they're either rejected outright or narrowly avoid deadly accidents.
  • Not only that but considering how the other world uses mainly precious metals, it's probably part of the deal that the the gods made when connecting the worlds as to not cause a market crash.
