• How did the mouse manage to lock both Caesar and the house's previous owner in a trunk?
  • To be fair, it was merely implied that the mouse was behind the previous owner's fate.

• Why couldn’t Ernie just leave the box of cigars in his car? That way the cockroach wouldn’t have gotten loose in the kitchen and therefore it wouldn’t have had to close down.
  • At this point in time, Ernie is very arrogant and more interested in making a personal show of serving the mayor than anything. He didn't even bother to check the cigar box upon taking it or he would have immediately noticed the cockroach had gotten into it. On top of that, his kitchen staff was apparently composed of the blind, as somehow no one noticed it crawling onto the mayor's plate.
