Headscratchers / Moonbeam City

Do Dazzle and Pizzaz live together in an active romance, outside of work? Multiple details suggest this:

  • Throughout the series:
    • Pizzaz excuses, backs up, ignores, and supports multiple infractions carried out by Dazzle, when the same mistakes by Chrysalis or Rad would earn severe retribution from her.
    • Pizzaz warns Dazzle that a mistake during "Lights, Camera, Re-enaction" will land him in "a worse job", instead of getting him fired or jailed.
      • This seems to imply that Pizzaz wants to keep Dazzle employed, and capable of paying both rent and bills. Why would this be important unless Dazzle's ability to hold a job and earn income be important/crucial to Pizzaz? It wouldn't, unless they shared bills and living expenses.
    • We see Dazzle's "crystal house dome on the Moonbeam Bay" multiple times, though Dazzle talks about a "pathetic cop's salary" in "Cop Con". In all cases, Dazzle's home looks far more expensive than anything he could afford on "a cop's salary", but not too expensive for Pizzaz, who is an heiress to her father's fortune.
    • Is it possible that Dazzle's home is actually his and Pizzaz's together, or simply hers?

  • "Mall Hath No Fury"
    • Pizzaz is incredibly distraught and irritated when hearing Dazzle as he has sex with Aiaiaia over Chrysalis' monitoring system, and screams for Chrysalis to shut off the monitor.
      • This shouldn't elicit such an emotional response from Pizzaz unless she found Dazzle's dalliance to be violating an active (if troubled) relationship she were in with him.

  • "Stuntzstravaganza":
    • Pizzaz tells Rad that she has "front-row seats (plural) for Stratus & Dunn at the Moonbeam Heliodrome". Why would she need multiple seats if she were going alone? And she doesn't mention having multiple seats for friends or guests.
      • This would make sense if Pizzaz were going with Dazzle, as she wouldn't need to identify Dazzle to Rad.

  • "Lasers and Liars":
    • Pizzaz forcibly saves Dazzle from becoming a "Miller Husband", snapping that she doesn't want to see him turned into another "useless, castrated loser" like the three husbands. The hidden implication in Pizzaz's words being that she wants Dazzle to stay virile and fertile, and by extension, capable of fathering children.
      • note

  • "Cop Con":
    • Dazzle has a roll-along suitcase twice the size of Chrysalis' roll-along. For a 3-day trip at "Cop Con", Chryaslis looks to have packed a normal amount of belongings. But Dazzle's roll-along is far larger than an adult would ever need for such a short stay. Also, Pizzaz has no luggage, has no porter carrying luggage, and has no luggage waiting for her at the rented car.
      • Could it be that Dazzle and Pizzaz packed their belongings together, into the one suitcase? This would be feasible only if they packed their respective belongings at the same place: a common home.
    • Dazzle says that he booked "a room" for himself and Pizzaz, and Pizzaz later talks about "our room" at the Arrestaurant.
      • Given her status as police chief, it is highly unusual that Pizzaz let Dazzle (an irresponsible and reckless individual) book the travel arrangements, rather than either booking them herself for her team, having an office assistant book the arrangements, or having each person book their own room. That Dazzle booked the room and car shows that Pizzaz trusts him to know how to keep their sexual activity secret.
      • The room that Dazzle books has only one large bed, and never shows Chrysalis' or Rad's luggage. This implies that Chrysalis and Rad have their own rooms (Rad, because Dazzle didn't reserve Rad's room). As Chrysalis and Rad very likely have their own rooms, why would Dazzle and Pizzaz be sharing a room with a single, large bed unless they were involved in an active relationship and/or living together? Adults (with no kids) usually only share a room with one bed, if they're hoteling with a romantic partner.
    • There is no indication that the "shame" and "regret" mentioned by both Dazzle and Pizzaz when having sex together, is the act itself. It is very possible that the "shame" and "regret" they're experiencing is from having sex during the time that they're supposed to be on duty or publicly available at "Cop Con"; or that they're having sex at times and in places where they could get caught, thereby having their relationship exposed to Chrysalis, Rad, and the other cops...if not to Moonbeam City as a whole.

  • "The Legend of Circuit Lake":
    • Pizzaz is shown rooting for Dazzle to stay out of jail during the "Verdict Vortex" spin, and not acting angry that Dazzle chose the Vortex, instead of a trial he would have surely won.
    • After Dazzle is remanded to the Moonbeam Penitentiary, Pizzaz is shown in her office, drinking whisky and openly crying into Dazzle's jacket as she bemoans his incarceration.
      • Why is Pizzaz drinking in weeping anguish when Dazzle is sentenced to life in prison? If the two were just associates, she should be overjoyed that a dangerous buffoon like Dazzle is no longer out causing mayhem and giving her a professional headache. If friends, she should be upset, but not necessarily anguished. That she is so incredibly distraught and drinking openly at her desk, shows that she is in love with Dazzle, and is heartbroken that her beloved has been taken from her, presumably for the rest of her life.
      • Why is Pizzaz crying with her face buried in Dazzle's jacket? Most people hold other people's clothes for the familiar feeling and personal scent left there. Dazzle's scent and touch must be incredibly familiar to Pizzaz for her to want to experience it while drinking and sobbing. That level of familiarity often only develops when living with someone and coming into close, intimate contact with them on a regular basis.
      • Pizzaz also mentions that Dazzle "must be cold without his jacket", implying that she's worried about his comfort. Pizzaz wouldn't know (much less worry) about Dazzle's comfort level unless she knew him intimately enough to know what he likes, and is concerned that he's in distress or discomfort.
      • And how did Pizzaz get a hold of Dazzle's clothes, anyway? Dazzle's personal belongings should be locked away at home, or kept with the police during his incarceration. Pizzaz would likely only have access to Dazzle's clothes if they lived together, or of she deliberately retrieved his belongings from either the prison or police storage.

  • "The Wedding of Rad (Lie)":
    • Dazzle again has a roll-along suitcase twice the size of Chrysalis' roll-along (same footage of Chrys, Dazz and Pizzaz walking). For a one-day stay at the "Thermospherion", Chryaslis looks to again have packed a normal amount of belongings, but Dazzle's roll-along is still far larger than an adult man would ever need for such a short stay. Also, Pizzaz still has no luggage, has no porter carrying luggage, and no luggage waiting for her.
      • This again suggests that Dazzle and Pizzaz packed their belongings together, into the one suitcase, at a place where they live together.
