Why does Chiyoko never ask the guy's name? The fact that it never occurs to her to do so makes her seem uncharacteristically idiotic. Asking the guy's name would have made finding him a lot easier.
I think she actually knew his name (or part of it), considerin' the plot point that dude died, something she wouldn't have been able to find out without knowing his name and there's a lot of guys with keys.
Also, why does nobody tell her the guy she's looking for died? What good does hiding the truth from her do?
To "spare her feelings", probably. Though, given her personality, it's likely she *was* told the truth at some point but refused to believe it (though subconsciously she is aware that the man she's been searching for has passed away, hence his lack of, well, presence even in her fantasies).
Considering why she retired 30 years ago, that might've actually been why. She was a major star and a studio wouldn't want to lose their major star, would they?
