Headscratchers / Letterkenny

  • Is Glen supposed to be out of the closet? Because he tends to express a lot of viewpoints typically shared by people who aren't too keen on homosexuality. Yet Glen doesn't even try to hide what a Camp Gay he is.
    • In season 7, he makes a passing reference to "switching sides", but when asked by Katy to elaborate on which side, he refrains. Thus, it's likely that he's not out of the closet.
    • I think it's more a Transparent Closet situation, where everyone knows Glen is gay (maybe bi), but he hasn't ever explicitly said as much, perhaps due to nominally being a preacher and potentially facing consequences if he were to do so.
  • In the Pilot, Reilly mentions that Wayne and Angie were high-school sweethearts, and had recently broken up after 5 years of dating. This would put Wayne's age at around 23. Nowhere in the series does he look or act anywhere near that young. Is it a case of Dawson Casting, Younger Than They Look, or something else?
    • It's possible that they started late in high school and took a break when Angie went off to college, then had the 5 year relationship mentioned, which would put Wayne around 27. Also possible Reilly was wrong about them being high school sweethearts, since he's not the brightest bulb in the box.
  • In season 3, Gae wanted to behave badly enough that she'd be sent back to her parents, and with the Skids' help, she achieves this. But all their acts of vandalism were committed while wearing clown masks and with no witnesses. How did Gae's aunt/parents know it was her behind it?
    • They sent their troublemaking daughter off to a farming town and all of a sudden the petty crime rate skyrocketed. They probably assumed, and they did so correctly.
    • In addition to the above, there's a good chance she flat out told them before she got sent off that she'd cause even more hell. Cue the increase in petty crime coinciding with Gae's arrival into Letterkenny, it's enough for her mother to put two and two together (and she's not at all dumb, as we saw with how she was able to analyze Wayne's arm crossing and it having such an impact on him that he tries to avoid crossing his arms on his dates after her).
  • Why couldn't Gae have gone back to Letterkenny with Stewart in season 6? Even if it wasn't safe to stay in the city, they would have been fine in Letterkenny.
  • Is there an actual reason why the women never take part in the donnybrooks and just stand around watching?
    • They don't want to.
    • Letterkenny is a small, rural town and has a lot of old-fashioned values, with Wayne usually being the mouthpiece of that outlook. Old-fashioned values dictate that fighting is the men's domain. The difference between the sexes in Letterkenny is basically hard power versus soft power. Men have hard power: the ability to fight and play hockey. Women have soft power, the ability to convince men to fight and play hockey for them. The lines get blurred occasionally, such as Katy beating up a rival woman and some women playing hockey, but the division in roles is generally upheld: guys mix it up while women watch on sidelines having orchestrated the whole thing.
  • Did the degens plan to bring Dary into their group? On the one hand, Mickey Gibraltar's demeanor at Mo Dean's looks like he had been watching Dary and waiting for a chance, and he uses pretty strong psychological manipulation to keep him in. Also, while Mickey and his sister claim not to be degens at first, they ingratiate pretty quickly, suggesting they may have some prior connection. On the other hand, Degens as a group seem to be pretty shortsighted morons.
