Headscratchers / Johnny the Walrus

Go To

  • If Johnny doesn't actually identify as a walrus and hates the transition process so much... why doesn't he say anything about it? Johnny's mom only makes him do all this unpleasant stuff because people online think he really does identify as a walrus. All Johnny would have to do is say he's not really a walrus.
    • Because Matt Walsh believes that transness is a consequence of… liberals on the internet. Actually, he constantly complained about the transition and how miserable he is under it. In Real Life, it would make any half-competent trans healthcare specialist immediately discontinue treatment.
  • Why does the "Woke Doctor" immediately prescribe "wormones" and surgery after a single check-up? If those are meant to be an allegory for gender hormones and gender-affirming surgery, it doesn't work. Surgery generally only comes at least a year after starting hormones, and only if the trans person specifically requests it. And Johnny appears to be prepubescent, so he wouldn't even be offered hormones in the first place, even by the "wokest" of doctors. Rather, he would have received a psychological evaluation to determine whether hormones, puberty blockers, etc. would benefit him, a process that would normally last several months, but in Johnny's case would end much more quickly with the psychologist immediately realizing that Johnny doesn't truly identify as a walrus.
    • The Watsonian answer is that this is a World Gone Mad where children are pushed into becoming walruses. The Doylist answer is that Matt Walsh is a demagogue who spreads lies and misinformation about trans people.
  • Some pages show crowds of people Waving Signs Around in support of Johnny's transition. Why would such a huge angry mob form over a mother making a single statement that can be seen as mildly "walrus-phobic" at worst?
    • It's a parody of the "woke" liberals and pro-transgender people in general, and to a lesser extent, cancel culture. Do people start protests or cancel things for silly reasons? Yes, there's no denying that (take Adele saying she loves being a woman and for conservatives, the all female M&Ms packages as examples), but not to the point of a no-name person on social media making mildly "phobic" statements earning crowds of protests.
