Beware of Unmarked Spoilers.

  • How does death work for the Gears?
    • I don't think they have mentioned it. We know the humans die permanently, but what about the AI controlling the meat puppet avatars? It can't be permanent, they have mentioned how death is fairly common so if it were permanent eventually only humans would be left. So if all that happens when you die is you make a new meat puppet, how has no one noticed that this new guy has the exact same memories and skills as the guy who died yesterday?
      • The better question would be, why don't the humans ever wonder where all these new guys are coming from. Deca-Dence is supposed to be all that's left, so don't they wonder where all these new Gears are coming from.
    • The implication seems to be that the chips inserted into the humans allow the gears to basically take over their bodies. So if you are part of the "warrior race" (if I remember correctly how they were refered to), you gets mind wiped into a meat puppet. Alternatively, Deca-Dence gets a constant shipment of meat puppets from "nearby tribes" who start playing the game. The end result is that they start over from level 1.
    • Nothing was directly stated, but the cavalier attitude the Gears display for their possible deaths, as well as the presence of the "skin shops" imply that there is a mature technology for large-scale body modifications, so their humanoid bodies may be simply created anew for the next-time use. After all, their "meat puppet" bodies aren't their main ones.

  • The game Deca-Dence has been going on for hundreds and hundreds of years now. And the cyborgs just keep playing and playing. There doesn't seem to be a final boss or final dungeon to beat, so doesn't that mean that the game will go on and on forever, with no end? Who want to play a game that you can't beat?
    • They clearly enjoy the base game loop of hunting Gaddoll, enjoy the big events and the prestige of leveling up and getting better gear, and the evolution of their enemies and ways to shake things up. The same could be said of RL MMO games like World of Warcraft or League of Legends where you essentially do the same thing over and over but the developers continue updating things to keep it fresh, be it with new areas, questlines, or characters to play against.

  • There are other (android) cities
    • Judging solely by the ad in the second episode showing how Quake Corp put a dome over Eurasia, there are other five suspicious "structures" around the Globe. Considering Deca-Dence is the only one with humans, maybe we will get to see the others and they are all inhabited by cyborgs.
