    Mido after the fight

  • How did he turn to ash? He's supposed to be like the Queen, right, impossible to truly kill? Shouldn't he have just dispersed?
    • Not really. There is nothing in the game that would suggest Mido is unkillable, only that he is quite powerful. The Queen was impossible to kill due to the experiments she underwent, which caused her BOR parasite to fuse to her body entirely, making her unkillable. Mido was willing to experiment on himself, but either failed to or never tried to do anything like that. Successors are able to regenerate after being killed, but that is only due to the relic of the Queen embedded in them, and Mido obviously didn't have one of those, or else it would've been left behind after he died.
    • Correction. Information provided in game confirms that Mido is indeed a successor. If I had to guess, I would say that he removed his own relic sometime before the boss fight. His entire plan was to resurrect the QUEEN which would require all the relics to be placed into a single host and wouldn't work if he still had his.

     Rin and Mia
  • What was Rin's relationship with Mia supposed to be? I mean, Mia first "meets" Rin when she wakes up in the church and sees her (inexplicably) sitting next to her bed asleep - like how someone waiting for someone else to wake up would end up. Then later, Rin enthusiastically goes out of her way to properly introduce herself to Mia, to the point where she knocks Yakumo on his ass. You could say she just likes meeting new people, but she doesn't act this way with any other character - not even Io and the protagonist. And she had no reason to watch over Mia while she slept, since they were complete strangers at the time. So was there supposed be something more between these two? A close friendship, or even romance? Does Rin like girls and Mia's just her type? Or is this just the writers being random?
    • It's probably nothing. Rin is primarily responsible for minding the base and keeping the home fires burning while the party is out adventuring (Coco is part of the Merchant's Guild and Davis is from Cerberus) so it makes sense that, when the party brought Mia back to base, Rin was responsible for looking after her. As for her attitude, she pretty much alludes to being excited to meet another girl who at least appears to be roughly her age (as she's noticeably younger than everyone else in the group, Revenant agelessness notwithstanding), presumably hoping the two of them can find enough common ground to be friends.

    Revenant vs God Eaters
  • There seems to be a general consensus on these pages that, while they have their merits (such as their mastery of what is effectively actual magic and the fact that they're literally unkillable as long as their heart survives), Revenants are simply a complete failure as the counter to the "Horrors" aka. the Aragami that they were created to be, considering that God Eaters are far faster, stronger and tougher, and even they struggle against the Aragami. However, is this actually the case, or is it simply a matter of Gameplay and Story Segregation making Revenants seem far weaker than they actually would be in the greater God Eater canon? Unlike God Eater, Code Vein is a Soulslike RPG with the requisite slower, more methodical, more punishing combat- of course your character can't leap fifty feat in a single bound like a God Eater can, they can't even jump for the sole reason that it's not part of the game mechanics. The characters seem significantly stronger and faster in cutscenes than they are in gameplay and it doesn't seem unreasonable that they're actually much closer to God Eaters in strength and speed than the gameplay would suggest. I guess unless Bandai Namco get off their butts and make God Eater x Code Vein we'll never know for certain.
