• Her short-circuiting and needing a new body after getting wet is what drives the plot of the movie, but considering what she's supposed to be purpose-built for, this makes no damned sense. If you actually give it some thought, it would be irresponsible for the manufacturer to not make her waterproof as she'd be an electrocution hazard for the poor schmuck that buys her. Can you say "lawsuit" boys and girls?
  • Except that her model is no longer made and the state-of-the-world implies that even the original manufacturer is no longer in business. So, she may have actually been waterproof when she was brand-new, but years of wear-and-tear, lack of proper support, and replacement parts have ruined her water-proofing. Sam may not have known until she broke.
