Headscratchers / Castling Cozy Glow

• Not saying that Cozy Glow being turned to stone was necessarily the right decision, but contrasting her treatment with Starlight Glimmer doesn't really hold up. Starlight was a well-intentioned extremist who changed course pretty much as soon as she saw the harm her actions were causing. Cozy Glow, on the other hand (or hoof, rather) was motivated by her ambition and desire for power. Even at her worst, Starlight was still the better pony.
  • Well, there is a school of thought that the punishment should fit the crime, regardless of circumstances. And you could also argue that Twilight letting Starlight off but not Cozy is her showing some bias due to her personal sympathies, regardless of how valid they may be. There's also the factor of age, as you can argue that as an adult Starlight should know better regardless of her reasons, while you can at least make the argument Cozy as child did not understand the full ramifications of what she was doing. (Whether she actually did or not is a can of worms in of itself.) Another thing to keep in mind, is that (at least as far as I remember) the only pony to argue that in story is Sweetie Belle (a child) during a heated argument. So it's also possible that she just wasn't thinking about the nuances in what Starlight did at that moment.
