- Threadbare accidentally kills the Skunk, a fellow golem, due to a mutual lack of understanding about their own strengths and the situation they are in. It's a powerful scene as Threadbare, only a few minutes old at this point, comes to understand what death is. The family cat, on the other hand, is just intelligent enough to come to the wrong conclusion.The cat didn't know exactly what was happening, but it did know one thing: This strange little creature had just straight-up murdered a fucker.
Sew You Want to Be a Hero
- Near the end of book 2, Anyse tells Celia that hooded, child-sized figures are being led into a rift and not coming out. Everyone assumes they are being sacrificed. Later, Threadbare explains that they are Half Human Hybrids being evacuated because they would otherwise be slaughtered. Everyone glares at Anyse... who huffs and says no, she wasn't trying to trick them, she genuinely thought the children were being sacrificed to a dark god.
The Right to Arm Bears
- Threadbare and Missus Fluffbear just don't get biology. Fart jokes are beyond their comprehension, and sex? Fuggedaboudit.Beryl: Fuck me running with a pogo stick.
Threadbare: I'm sorry, to begin with I can't do anything like that, besides it sounds really uncomfortable to try to run at the same time, and I really have no idea what that last thing is. - While discussing the problem of the cultists starting to worship Threadbare and Yorgum offering to take them in, Graves ponders joining the faith himself...Graves: I may have to join the faith.
