• After a white racist patient yells at Shruti for delivering her baby when she had wanted Adam (who's white) to do it, Adam gets revenge by stitching up the mother's belly in such a way that her dolphin tattoo appears to have been decapitated. This does backfire onto him later in the series when it's used as a criticism against his wayward behaviour by the person who takes responsibility for reporting him to the CQC (who's a black Senior Matron.)
  • The series underscores its cynical humour by turning what till then was a barely concealed expression of rampant bigotry by the patient AND her mother into a moment of cathartic schadenfreude when the woman wakes up to find the young British-Indian doctor holding her newborn child, leading her to react in a flurry of racial slur-laden hysteria when she assumes it was Shruti that delivered her child.
  • This attitude is unfortunately a case of Truth in Television as one of the persistent issues ironically faced by an organisation whose function is largely dependent on a very sizeable multinational and multicultural workforce. Simply put: if you don't like the idea of highly qualified non-white and/or non-British medical practitioners looking after you, then go private. Otherwise, you should suck it up and be grateful for the FREE and reliable essential healthcare they provide on a daily basis, and whose integration allows the NHS to continue providing accessible healthcare for sixty million people.
• After the new parents of triplets decide to call their daughters 'Millie, Lily and Billie' and another patient is revealed to have named her baby 'Mist', Adam remarks to the camera "What's wrong with calling a baby 'Steve'?"
