• The Heron's sinister speech as he's about the abandon Mahito is interrupted because he keeps poking the cork in his beak with his tongue and can't concentrate. It then cuts to him nervously watching Mahito shave it down a bit more.
• When Mahito asks the Heron if the parakeets eat people, the Heron says the parakeets “will eat an elephant”.
• Shoichi's absolutely dumbfounded reaction when Mahito and Himi disappear back into the tower while a swarm of parakeets fly out.
  Shoichi: [stunned] Mahito turned into a little budgie.
• The parakeets are vicious but also quite dumb. The Heron manages to fool them for quite some time into making them think he's one of their species, by wearing a Paper-Thin Disguise that consists in little more than two googly eyes on stalks and a strip of cloth.
