Funny / The August Few

Despite being a political drama, The August Few is not without its humor, especially considering its author has a unique sense of humor of his own.

From the book:

• Chapter 2 - Part 3: Thallius' introduction; it's essentially a variant on "Of course I know him, he's me."
  • From the same chapter, during Celia's fight with Polly, Thallius shouts at the two of them to stop causing a racket, showing more care for the building than the fact there was a fight taking place in it.
• Chapter 4 - Part 7: The book takes the time to mention that the Kivouachian press thinks Yeshua has nice ass.
• Chapter 10 - Part 6 grants us Lucy wasted on the Kivvic equivalent to alcohol. She gets up on a table and begins dancing and singing, with her last note being described as a "dying animal", tripping "on a tail she forgot she had" all whilst being chased by Ludwig and Shale, and counting to the imaginary number "foop" whilst going on about how it's totally a real number.

From promotional material:

• Some of the "Voice Test" videos Sam created to give viewers an audible idea of what certain characters sounded like ended with said characters giving their thoughts on the book, each with their own humorous flair.
  • Lucy's plays into her love of literature, and the fact that she has a lot to learn about her own world.
    Lucy: "Great, let me know. I'll buy three."
    Narrator: "Do you even have money?"
    Lucy: "What's money?"
  • Celia seems to think people want her autograph, which puts her in a snark war with the narrator.
    Celia: "So I'm in the book, yeah?"
    Narrator: "You are."
    Celia: "Great! Where do I sign?"
    Narrator: "You don't have to."
    Celia: "I wasn't asking you."
  • Winifred cuts the narrator off mid sentence.
    Narrator: "Good read?"
    Winifred: "You will not speak."
    Narrator: [Beat] "Yes ma'am."
• Sam did an animation of Lucy and Celia with a cameo from Audrey II of Little Shop of Horrors fame, who's seemingly given to Celia as a Halloween gift. Audrey's introduction is priceless.

  Audrey: "Feed me!"
  Celia: "What did you do?!"
  Audrey: "Feed me!"
  Lucy: "Hope you like your greens!"
  Audrey: "FEEEEED ME!"
  -Lucy playfully shrugs-
