Nermal taunts Garfield's hatred of Monday by goading him into pointing out that today is Monday and singing that Garfield hates Monday. Garfield then quips that he doesn't hate Mondays as much as he hates Nermal.

When Nermal suggests that he could take Garfield's place as the star, one of the things he brings up is that Arlene will be his dim-witted sidekick. Arlene isn't too happy about this and ends up restrained by the other comic strip characters as she threatens to kill Nermal.
When Wally says that he needs two doors to finish his invention intended to rescue Garfield and Odie from the real world, the other comic strip characters resort to taking the doors to the men's room and the ladies' room. In the men's room, we see Grimmdrinking from the toilet. In the ladies' room, we see Zelda applying makeup and then giving a sultry look to the viewer.
Bonita asks Wally why he's named his invention the Bonitanator and Wally answers by explaining that the invention's blade used to cut through the wall between the real world and the comic strip world reminds him of his wife's sharp nose and icy demeanor, then confesses that he did use his concertina to steal Bonita's cookies. Rather than getting livid by the revelation, this causes Bonita to gain a new appreciation for her husband.
