From the novel
- Takumi explains to the readers that among other things, he feels the urge to talk loudly in places where everyone is supposed to be quiet (saying things like "This shirt is so damn cool!" or "This is too much!" in a cinema, for instance) and is sensitive to cigarette smoke. He then says that if he were to protest with a group of fellow patients with, say, "This shirt is so damn cool!" signs, all the police officers would need to do to break it up would be to light a cigarette each. The protesters would then run away exclaiming, "This is too much!"
- Mio and Takumi have sex, and find that Mio doesn't appear to have sexual experience. Takumi tries to rationalise it by saying that it's probably like in computer games, where Mio's life experience was reset and that she was sent back to Earth with just the essential life skills (apparently excluding sexual experience) to survive. He then tells the reader:She was perplexed. Any mother of a six-year-old child would be, if she had just been informed she is a virgin.
