- Noah doesn't get together with Avery or Carrie at the Halloween Party in 2014 because he's trying to force a relationship, instead of letting it develop naturally. In both situations, the girls end up getting with someone else the very next day, leaving Noah single. In a lot of time-travelling movies, the guy ends up with the girl through manipulating her to make her fall in love with him. However, this movie actually makes a point to discuss how creepy that is, and allows Noah to realise that he needs to do everything the exact same way he did in the beginning.
- The movie conveys the importance of friendships, and that forcing someone to like you, no matter how good your intentions are, will never work. For a romantic comedy, the fact that it talks more about platonic relationships, more than romantic relationships, is incredible refreshing.
