Fridge / The Website Is Down

Go To

  • Fridge Brilliance: At first, Chip's desktop situation seems completely improbable for a series of reasons.
    • First, Chip says his desktop has been that way for the past nine years. Episode four and a half reveals the laptop is company property, and it would be ridiculous for Plastroltech to let one of their employees use the same laptop for nearly a decade...but, Chip's interactions with technology indicate that he probably would have refused to upgrade his computer, because having to update everything and adjust to new software would have been impossible for him. Indeed, he can be seen still playing Wolfenstein 3D in Episode Two, which was dated 2008, so odds are he simply refuses to get with the times because he couldn't handle the change.
    • Second, given that every icon on the desktop is part of the arrangement of letters and pictures, it's implied that Chip hasn't installed a new program or created a new desktop icon in the past nine years, which is extremely unlikely given that Chip likes to set websites as desktop icons...but wouldn't it be just like Chip to add every new icon he creates to the desktop arrangement, making the letters and picture more pronounced and detailed? In episode two he's seen trying to rebuild his old desktop by re-creating the old one a single icon at a time, so this is completely possible and in character.
    • Finally, it's extremely hard to believe that nobody over the past nine years had seen Chip's desktop, particularly given he's a computer idiot and is probably constantly asking for help...but it's made quite clear in several episodes that Chip couldn't care less how many people don't like his desktop, and seems to even lack understanding as to why they would have a problem with it, and would probably have just ignored any demands to re-organize it.
