Fridge Horror

• Bittersweet Ending: End of Ages is mostly happy, with The Bahro freed and Atrus' family once again reunited. The Fridge Horror of this ending only sets in with URU Live, when the ideological schism of the Bahro causes a civil war and the death of at least one innocent person.
• Atrus mistakes Watson for a long-dead friend. He's also only one quarter Ronay, the rest of his ancestry being Earth native. So he appears to be losing his mind with age.
• The bad endings where you Link to Myst Island and Esher abandons you, whether you brought the Tablet or not, and all of the island's equipment is broken beyond repair. And although you can wander around Myst Island at your leisure, the game doesn't end, making for a cruel Call-Back to the original Myst.
  Esher: And there is no way from here. No one will come for you. Myst Island is your end...forever.
