• Per post-script author's notes, Unlimited Blade Works is able to record any weapon that has a blade of some kind, including the ability to Trace a copy of said weapon. However, UBW does not record the accumulated experience of its gun function^* (i.e. Shirou could copy Ruby's fighting style with Crescent Rose's scythe form, but would have no record of her skill with it as a firearm), and hybrid weapons take longer to Trace due to the increased design complexity. Hybrid weapons also appear to muddy certain aspects of the Tracing process, as Shirou's ability to reproduce the accumulated years should have shown him important things such as Ruby's desire to be a hero and Pyrrha's Semblance - neither of which he learns from their weapons. This suggests that hybrid weapons may not be fully compatible with UBW, resulting in incomplete Tracing - a possibility corroborated by the fact that the only two weapons that he has been shown as seeing the full history of are Crocea Mors and Wilt, both of which are swords that don't shapeshift and lack firearm functionality.
