• When Father Roche confesses to having had "carnal thoughts about a saint of the Lord" he is clearly talking about Kivrin. But much turns on when he had these thoughts. Was it after getting to know Kivrin as they cared for the people of the village? Or was it when he first found her, helpless and disoriented in an isolated woods?
