Fridge Horror

  • In the red tape, a parent states he stopped his child from watching Amanda the Adventurer after an episode where the moral was "mommies and daddies aren't always right". Seems hilariously mundane compared to some of the other horrific imagery in the series, right? But considering what sort of things Hameln Entertainment's been up to, it may have a more sinister purpose. For one, they wanted to keep Rebecca under their control, even as her father was objecting to the things they were making her do; of course they'd want to manipulate her by telling her that her daddy's wrong about them. And considering how they're apparently behind the disappearances of multiple children, who's to say the thing they’re saying "mommies and daddies" aren't always right about isn't stranger danger?
    • The threat in this game is demonic, but even in a mundane setting there could be some nasty implications, particularly when you remember the number of former child stars who've come out with horror stories of their time in the TV and film industries.
    • The Pied Piper of Hamelin took away the children of Hamelin when the adults of the town reneged on their agreement. From the perspective of Hameln Entertainment, they may have felt justified in making Sam Colton “disappear” when he began to object to what was they were having Rebecca do. Sam, of course, was simply doing what any responsible parent would do. Hell, even in the context of the original fairy tale, someone who responds to being ripped off by luring someone’s kids away is probably not someone you should trust with your children in any situation.
  • Amanda's behavior in general, with the knowledge that she's actually Rebecca Colton lines up with the idea of an angry and depressed child lashing out at those around them to hold some semblance of control over their life, and one particular symptom of that is abused children reenacting their traumatic experiences onto others because they have no other way of emotionally processing it. This puts the second Doctor's Visit tape into a deeply unsettling perspective; Amanda isn't just killing Wooly for no reason, she's acting out what Hameln did to her.
    • Even worse is how Amanda tries to reassure Wooly by saying that it's "all pretend" and "everything's going to be alright". Did Hameln do this to her before they inevitably killed her and placed her soul into the show?
    • Also, according to Sam Colton, Rebecca had gone through a lot of issues before he adopted her. Considering the horrors orphaned or abandoned children tend to suffer from before finding a home, it's entirely possible that Rebecca's trauma may be even more sinister in nature.... Which makes the way Hameln tries to "reassure" her even creepier and grosser.
