A 2001 American Dystopic horror directed by Michael Oblowitz set in the near future of where vampires and humans live with a fragile alliance, though a rogue vampire threatens other vampires' hopes of a peaceful future.

The movie stars Adrian Paul, Bokeem Woodbine, Bai Ling, Peter Halasz, James Booth, Paul Collins, and Reed Diamond.

It was released on July 19, 2001.

Tropes for the film:

  • Day Hurts Dark-Adjusted Eyes: The vampires are this way. They wear sunglasses during the day and in their world, it is the eye sensitivity that gave way to the idea of vampires being allergic to sunlight.
  • Fantastic Racism: Vampires are portrayed as a marginalized race and are forced to live in abandoned Jewish ghettos.
  • Frozen Fashion Sense: Though the movie is set in a dystopia 20 Minutes into the Future, many characters dress in stereotypical 50s detective noir get-ups. (Though to be fair, this is not limited solely to the vampires).
  • Shout-Out: Both Lucy Westenra and Seward have names that are a nod to Dracula.
  • Silver Bullet: The movie claims that vampires are sensitive to both silver and sunlight. So not only do cops expecting to deal with vampires carry silver bullets, but also silver handcuffs and silver hand grenades.
  • Technically-Living Vampire: Vampires are supposedly a genetic offshoot of humanity rather than undead.
