Water, water everywhere, since the river rose. And no one's ever been the same.

Set the Thames on Fire is a British Dark Comedy film from 2015, directed by Ben Charles Edwards, and starring Noel Fielding, Sally Phillips, David Hoyle, Michael Winder and Max Bennett, among others.

The movie tells the story of two young men, Art and Sal, living in a post-apocalyptic London. They meet by chance at a cocktail party hosted by The Impresario, a corrupt man with a lot of local power. After this, they quickly become close friends and move in together, making plans about going to Egypt together one day.

This film contains examples of:

  • Compulsive Liar: Sal. He lies at least twice about his past, once to Art and once to Colette, and also lies about insignificant things such as where he found a dog(the dog in question was stolen from Colette and Emily, but he insisted it was a stray). He does admit fairly quickly to Art that he lied about his past, though, so the lying might not be so compulsive.
  • Creepy Crossdresser: Dickie can be seen as one of these. He's a grown man, dressed in what appear to be children's dresses, and his makeup is exaggerated. That combined with his childlike, almost deranged behaviour, could lead him to appear creepy. Although, he doesn't seem to have any bad intentions with Art and Sal, only behaving the way he does because he mistook them for patrons.
  • Informed Attractiveness: Well, arguably more of a case of informed unattractiveness. Art is repeatedly described as or implied to be the ugly one of the pair, while Sal is “the pretty one.” This despite the two of them being about the same level of attractiveness.
  • Post-Apocalyptic Dog: Colette and Emily own a dog, which Sal tries to steal at one point.
