Peelers is a Canadian horror film by Seve Schelenz.
Blue Jean (Wren Walker) is the owner and manager of a strip club that's celebrating it's closing night. She's been mourning the loss of her boyfriend, Lucas, and has decided to sell the club.
During the events, a quartet of workers from a nearby mine have stepped in for some food. One of them isn't looking too hot, however, and heads into the bathroom, where he vomits black bile into the toilet, and then turns into a vicious, feral monster.
Before long, more people in the club start to turn, and Blue Jean finds she has to defend her dancers, and her life, from these creatures.
The film was released on April 9th, 2016.
Peelers contains examples of:
- Cruel Twist Ending: Blue Jean, Logan, and Carla's baby ride off as the strip club blows up, hopefully burning away any remains of the pathogen. However, Logan then notices the black substance on his body. And in his infection, he drops the baby on the street while they're till moving.
- Non-Indicative Title: At no point in the movie does anyone refer to the infected people as "Peelers", nor is the word "Peelers" said.
- One-Word Title: Peelers, obviously.
- The Stinger: After the credits, we see a scene of an infected arm grabbing an axe from a motorcycle wreck, followed by the strip club's past, and learn how she got her cop bike.
- Weaksauce Weakness: The cast finds out that the infected can be killed by water. They reason that it's because oil and water don't mix.
