* UnReboot: ''Death Race 2050'' follows the ''Film/DeathRace'' remake and its two prequels.

* WeaponizedCar: Every car in the Death Race has a few eccentric little extras. Hilariously, Machine Gun Joe's car is the only one that appears to have actual weapons (tommy guns in this case) attached to it, but they're just for show. The giant knife, on the other hand, gets a couple of very gory kills (including the first one of the whole race, establishing [[BloodSport what kind of "scoring" there is]]) and in the climax Joe deploys an OilSlick to try to slow down Frankenstein.

* RealityEnsues: After 20 years of regular Death Race's everyone knows better than to be on the streets while it's going on. As such all the drivers have a hard time actually finding someone to kill unless someone is really stupid or actually offers themselves up (or is offered up by others in the case of the hospital patients).

* RareVehicles: The yellow car with the hinged roof that Frankenstein and Anne drive off in at the end of the film is a Sterling Nova, a very rare American kit car. Notable for its ridiculously cool looks and ridiculous design that does away with traditional doors.

* FightScene: You'd never guess, but [[Series/KungFu Kwai Chang Caine]] can kick [[Creator/SylvesterStallone Rocky's]] ass.

* DoNotAdjustYourSet: The Army of the Resistance breaks in on Pander's program to deliver a demand by Paine that the Transcontinental Road Rape be stopped. The Secret Police claim she was just some nut with a gun who forced her way into the studio and made them broadcast.

** Women score [[WomenInRefrigerators higher than men]], and even Frankenstein doesn't hesitate to kill them.

* DoubleEntendre: Used at least once.

* ThoseWackyNazis: ''[[PunnyName Matilda The Hun]]'' and her navigator pretty much embody this trope [[RuleOfCool for stylistic purposes]]. Emphasis on the "stylistic". There are several black spectators cheering in her section.

* YouKillItYouBoughtIt: Frankenstein kills Mr President AndThereWasMuchRejoicing, with Frankenstein being proclaimed the new Mr President. Although the new ruler of the country makes changes like cancelling the Road Race, pensioning off the Secret Police and moving the capital back to America, it's implied the new regime won't be much different from the old.

** Junior also becomes the last kill of the movie... run over by Frankenstein because he's protesting the abolition of the Death Race.
