The Disappearance of Osomatsu-san

- Synopsis: It would have been normal if Choromatsu's alarm clock, which was set to ring every five minutes, didn't blast his eardrums so early in the morning and awoke him from his slumber. And all it took for Osomatsu to realize something was definitely wrong was to simply glance at the alarm clock Choromatsu brought with his own saved money for all the brothers to make use of it. That small, silver alarm clock that had been decorated with scratch marks from Ichimatsu's cats, Jyushimatsu's and Todomatsu's colorful stickers, and Karamatsu's leftover glitter from the obnoxious articles of clothing he's worn, was all it took for Osomatsu to drop the photo album and look around the room in horror and realization. The alarm clock, that small silver piece of technology, was clean and unscratched as it was sitting next to the futon meant only for one person.
- Comments: "This was based off of "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya", an anime movie based from the "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" series, as well as a Nico Nico Video of the same name." You don't need to watch "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya" to know what the fic is about (as the fic is mostly original, save for a few minor elements derived from the movie). The plot twists and character development are great, as well as the humor.

Magical Osomatsu-san

- Synopsis: When evil threatens his world - more specifically, his brothers - Matsuno Osomatsu is recruited by a talking kitten and signs a magical contract that transforms him into a gem-encrusted warrior. Now only he stands in the way of Planet Earth's enemies and their dark goal to control every human soul. The monsters are ugly, the battles gruelling and the thanks nonexistent. But hey, at least he's got work. Osomatsu might fight alone. But he is only the first. Chosen to lead a powerful unit to save their world and so many others, the search for his four allies has begun.
- Comments: If there's two things this troper loves, it's Matsuno boys and magical boys. Putting them together with detailed descriptions and well-written dialogue creates what feels like a script for a real spinoff. Everyone is in-character, the lore of the Liberation Force and Spectrum Guardians is very thorough and thought-out, and the excitement and theory-making builds up with each new chapter. The chapters are a bit on the lengthy side, but as previously stated, that's what makes them feel especially episodic. Magical Osomatsu-san is a true gem—no pun intended.

Time and Time Again

- Synopsis: Life can get pretty dull when you’re a 20-something NEET, but Karamatsu’s never really minded it too much. It was something like being on a carousel: the ups and downs were more or less predictable, but it was still fun enough to keep riding. But maybe one day it’s not so much like a carousel anymore. Maybe it’s more like a whirlpool, and all he can do is reach out, reach out, and hope blindly for a way to pull himself back to land.
- Comments: This fic is really powerful especially in Karamatsu's development throughout the story.

Malice in Underland

- Synopsis: At the prospect of spending his whole life without his brothers, Karamatsu swears he'll do anything to give them a second chance in life. Even if the terms include forsaking his God, being banished from heaven, and taking his own life.(Afterlife AU in which Karamatsu signs a contract with a strange sister to bring his brothers back from the dead. Things in the afterlife don’t quite go as he expects, since the terms require that he ends up there with absolutely no memory of himself while he was still alive. Post ep 24)
- Comments: This fic is beautifully written and delves really deeply into the psyche of the Matsuno brothers (especially Karamatsu, Osomatsu, Choromatsu and Ichimatsu). The character and plot development are cleverly written, and it deals a lot with Osomatsu's inability to accept his brothers' independence post episode 24, Karamatsu's struggles with his own self-esteem and grief. Really quite dark. Great for those of you who love angst.

- Comments: A really good fic that explores some darker themes like PTSD, violence, and abuse. A good read for those interested in stories that talk about Tougou. The characters were badass while being mostly in character at the same time.

The Heaviness of a Heart

- Synopsis: Karamatsu joins a forum for suicidal people. He lacks the courage to kill himself on his own, but finds someone that has the same problem living in the same city. The two make a pact to kill themselves together, but upon their meeting, Karamatsu finds that it was his brother Choromatsu. Now Karamatsu has a new mission, to stop his little brother from killing himself. A fanfic about two sad boys just trying their best to survive.
- Comments: A very well-written fic about how two brothers struggle with their own sorrows and how they don't want the other to die. It's so beautiful and sad and if you like darker fics, I recommend.
