* Synopsis: "I'm not the only one who thinks this is weird, right? I mean, when we first met him, Edward Elric was a little kid in a wheelchair, missing an arm and a leg, and now he's managed to get his arm back, he's of legal drinking age, and he's getting married."
It is kind of weird, Riza agrees, although it really shouldn't be. After all, settling down and getting married is what men Edward's age usually do. And yet it feels so incongruous for Edward Elric, who saw the Gate three times, punched a god in the face, and was one of the brightest alchemists Riza had ever met, to be doing something so normal. It would be like the Brigadier General getting married, or her. She has to suppress a giggle at the thought.

Unexpectedly becomes one of the best depictions of Roy and Ed's relationship I've ever read- keeps close to canon characterizations and avoids being overly saccharine while still conveying the depth of their complicated emotions about each other. Explores the themes of responsibility and mercy and the moral quandary of Ed's position as a minor in the military in a mature and interesting way.

The one major con is the author's blatant crushes on Jean Havoc and Roy Mustang. Then again, that could still be a pro depending on who you are.
