Do warn when a fanfic may head into shipping or [[BetterThanCanon non-canon]] territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, {{Shipping}} is SeriousBusiness.

[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/24907984 familiarity breeds contempt]] by Salicinalis
* Recommended by: Lyra_Dhani
* Status: Complete
* Synopsis: The fairies are watching him. They always are. But familiarity breeds contempt, and by now, Artemis is certain that they have built up an entire psychological profile of him, complete with past childhood trauma and attachment issues. Or: an attempt to reconcile the version of Artemis we see in the movie with the genius of the books, a.k.a. genius!movie!Artemis matching wits with a genius!movie!Opal.
* Comments: An amazing take on the disastrous 2020 movie and single-handedly made the movie more bearable.

* Synopsis: It's been a few months since Artemis Fowl has been mindwiped by the LEP when he notices peculiar glitches around, and ends up discovering an uncanny dimension: the Wired. Artemis' lust for power takes over, and as he has forgotten all about his spark of decency, the fairies will face the consequences of distrusting him. Set after ''The Eternity Code''.
* Comments: A very well-done DarkFic. Artemis's [[DisproportionateRetribution "revenge"]] on the fairies and gradual JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope are disturbingly believable.

* Comments: Specializes in oneshots and writes just about every (canon complacent) scenario under the sun. Since the last fic was published in 2006, none of the author's works contain info from ''The Time Paradox'' and beyond.

this should be posted as a review using the link below the rec, not as an additional comment

* This is a de-rec from me, on the point that the Artemis Fowl side seems, at least to this poster, mismanaged. Artemis makes mistakes that seem very obviously mistakes, the Fairy race is treated almost as villains, and so on.

* Comments: A sequel story taking place 6 months after The Last Guardian. It breaks the usual formula of having even numbered books being Opal focused stories by having Opal coming back guns ablazing. And yet her return doesn't feel cheap and the explanation for her return makes sense. In other words, if you wearn't satified with how she went out in TLG, then here's another chance at getting a more satisfying final battle with her. The author has a good attention to detail when it comes to the lore (including the Artemis Files short stories) and he introduces a lot of original canon complacent elements that fits well with pre-established lore. A very high quality story that earns its place as a potential book 9 to the series. The author would later go on to publish his own original novels, so you know you are getting into some quality work.\\
The author would later write a "book 10" known as ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10275660/1/ The Everett Interpretation]]'', a world building side story known as ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10561649/1/The Battle of Taillte]]'' and a "Book 0" focused on Holly known as ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11439110/1/In Her Mother's Footsteps]]''

* Comments: Don't let the EpunymousTitle throw you off- this is a work of genius. It's exactly what it says on the tin- Artemis hired by the LEP as a consultant. But of course, it isn't ''that'' easy. Intern rebellions, rogue AI, plus a very serious problem on the surface. It's structured like a TV show, with two seasons so far and still going. Just go check it out.

* Comments: Clearly this is an A/H fic, but the focus isn't the romance (which is different from your typical Artemis X Holly fic anyway, in that in makes the relationship in-character and believable). Instead, the story is a thrilling race to save Holly and Artemis's son, featuring the usual wit and wisecracks from the pair as well as serious sacrifice. Even if you're not a fan of the A/H ship, it's worth a read for the plot alone.
** The fic now has a completed sequel, ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2593669/1/Artemis-Fowl-The-Sword-of-God Artemis Fowl: The Sword of God]].''

* Comments: An utterly brilliant fic which details what happens to Artemis after his HeroicSacrifice, as well as the Fowls, Butlers and Holly's attempts to move on and heal. Deals with the [[spoiler: cloning]] in a pseudo-scientific way that fits both Colfer's style and has a hint of realism. Wonderful way to end the series properly.

* Synopsis: Artemis was always prepared for any contingency. So, naturally, undergoing a mindwipe would not stop him from almost immediately getting back on his feet... his criminal genius feet, that is. With no memories of the Fairies and the LEP, there's nothing to stop him from doing what any good villain would do - kidnap a fairy and hold her for ransom, of course. Naturally, his hostage, one Captain Holly Short, is less than amused... and that's when things start getting complicated.

* Comments: Tightly written and in-character, Degrees of Poison delivers a quiet conversation between Holly and Artemis, regarding his ruthless intellect and the damage his deception did to their friendship, from Holly's point of view. Hints of shipping, but not the main focus.

* Sypnosis: A set of thirty-one drabbles, mostly humorous anecdotes encompassing the span of events throughout the whole series. While not all of them are focussed on the romance, there is enough of an undertone for this to classify as a shipping fic. The romantic chapters are nuanced and subtle about it. Most of them are also quite hilarious, some are sad and all of them are inventive.

* Comments: This story doesn't seem like it would work out but at the end it becomes a great story that shows how Grub grows through out trial of fatherhood.

* Comments: Basically, ''The Time Paradox'' from Holly's POV and her thoughts/feelings about the whole Time-Travel-Lemur-Saving-Teenage-Body experience during this very experience. Manages to both keep characters, well, in character and fill the gaps left in the original book.

* Synopsis: The Fourth story in the series is a crossover with the Percy Jackson fic involving the main character being transported to the Artemis Fowl universe and needing to get back. Things would only make sense if you read the original 3 fully PJ books though. The crossover takes place after the Atlantis Complex, all canon material after that isn't present.

* Comments: The author has done an ''excellent'' job at combining the lore of the two series. And there are a surprising amount of parallels between the two - to quote her words:
