Wings of Fire: Revenant
is a coming-of-age fanfiction by VexVamp. It takes place after the second arc and all related Legends spinoffs, for which spoilers will be unmarked.
Peacemaker has never done anything remarkable - at least as far as he's concerned. With no magical abilities or heroic destiny, he worries he might never be able to make his life worthwhile.
So when the opportunity arises for him to go to Jade Mountain Academy and revive the ailing school gardens, Peacemaker hopes this might be just the chance he needs. This adventure brings with it new experiences and new friends, including a strangely familiar Nightwing named Truthseeker. Their mysterious connection will change everything for the two young dragons, and might just lead them to a truth that neither is prepared to face.
When the time comes, Peacemaker must make a choice. What is his life really worth? And is his future still tied to the darkness of his past?
This fic contains the following tropes:
- Big Sister Mentor: Moonwatcher has been Peacemaker's friend his whole life, and convinces his mother to let him attend Jade Mountain Academy. Peacemaker has no idea of the Master-Apprentice Chain that motivates her to do so.
- Caring Gardener: Peacemaker loves using his knowledge of plants and fruit to help out his community.
- Motor Mouth: Cliff is no less hammy and outspoken than he was as a dragonet in canon.
- Reincarnation: Truthseeker is strongly implied to be a reincarnation of Clearsight, with drastically reduced abilities and only a vague memory of her past self's anguish. Apparently Peacemaker isn't the only dragon who got a second chance.
