We Are Not Your Ordinary Family is a My Hero Academia fan fiction written by Anonymouspotato. It’s largely episodic, centered around the day to day life of Class 1-A and their fellow students and teachers at UA, telling short, funny stories and fleshing out the backstories of characters who’ve gotten less focus in the canon material.

- A Day in the Limelight: The whole story is built around this, rotating between characters so more of Class 1-A get some character depth.
- The first two chapters both focus on Jirou-and to a lesser extend, Kaminari/Yaoyorozu, and Snipe respectively.
- Chapter 8 is one for Ojiro.
- Chapter 13 is largely focused on Sato.
- Chapter 17 gives Shinsou some attention.
- 19 is one for Ojiro again, as well as Hagakure.
- Chapter 20 is about Mei Hatsume.
- 23 is one for Kaminari.
- Chapter 25 switches the perspective to Class 1-B, and Kendo in particular.
- Chapter 26, similarly, is about Aizawa, Present Mic, Midnight, and Iida’s older brother Tensei in their high school days.
- Chapter 27 is about Koda.
- Affectionate Nickname: Hagakure occasionally calls Ojiro 'Mashi'.
- Chef of Iron: Bakugou. He's one of the highest-ranking students in class, both in academics and in combat, and he's one of the (very few) students in Class 1-A that doesn't need a crash course in cooking from Satou.
- Cute Kitten: Mocha in Chapter 24.
- Entertainingly Wrong: Mina, about Uraraka and Midoriya's relationship. The post-chapter notes in the chapter she tries to get them to "confess their feelings" in notes that it was written for the benefit of those assumed to be in a relationship just because of Boy Meets Girl.
- Fastball Special: Uraraka uses her Quirk to throw Midoriya at a locked bathroom door to give them an escape in Chapter 36.
- Find Out Next Time: The end of chapter notes from Chapter 2 onward include a teaser for the setup of the next chapter, with varying degrees of accuracy.
- First-Name Basis: Mina, Hanta, and Denki are this with each other. Toru and Mashirao move to this at the end of Chapter 19 after their heart to heart.
- Fun with Acronyms: The author usually abbreviated the title as WANYOF, which is just plain fun to say.
- Halloween Episode: Chapter 7. Chapter 28 is a much less literal take.
- Hidden Depths: Pretty much every student has this-including the ones who were already well developed.
- In Touch with His Feminine Side: Aoyama, to the surprise of absolutely nobody, is a pro at manicures, since he picked stuff up from his mom.
- Lethal Chef: Most of Class 1-A, with notable exceptions from Satou, Tsuyu, and Bakugou.
- Original Character: Masaru, an original Support Course student, makes a brief appearance in Chapter 20.
- Prince Charming Wannabe: Mineta. He even dresses as Prince Charming in Chapter 7.
- Shipper on Deck: Mina to Midoriya and Uraraka, much to their consternation. Chapters 35 and 36 have her roping the rest of Class 1-A into helping her get them together by locking them in a bathroom together.
- Team Mom: Yaoyorozu And Tsuyu. They discuss it in Chapter 18.
- Kendo for Class 1-B.
- Ten Minutes in the Closet: Or bathroom, as it were. This was Mina's goal in Chapter 36, much to Midoriya's embarrassment and Uraraka's anger.Mina gulped. "So... you're not madly in love?"Midoriya turned flamingo pink, and looked away. Uraraka’s eyes from ‘I’m incredibly peeved’ to ‘I’m going to fucking murder you’. “No. We’re not.”
- Wholesome Crossdresser: Certified Nice Guy Kirishima wears a dress in Chapter 7.
