Twisted Princess is a series of Disney Animated Canon fan-works by jeftoon01 on Deviantart

The Twisted Princess series serves to add dark twists to the Disney films. The series consists of dark, often bloody, fan art of various Disney female leads. The art is accompanied by a story explaning the picture.

There is also a spinoff series called Twisted Fairies about the Disney Fairies characters.

Twisted Princess provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Villainy: Unlike most of the other twisted princesses, who become Darker and Edgier but are driven more by grief and revenge than maliciousness, the Blue Fairy is outright evil and self-serving. She tricks Geppetto into giving up his soul by telling him it's the price to pay for bringing Pinocchio to life, then forces Pinocchio to kill Geppetto and absorbs his stolen soul to restore her youth and beauty.
  • Alternate Universe Fic: John Smith is killed by Ratcliffe, causing Pocahontas to go on revenge.
  • Artifact Title: The series was originally supposed to be of the Disney Princess characters, but it was expanded to be about female characters in general.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: Most of the art is bloody, in contrast with Disney's extremely rare usage of blood.
  • Dark Fic: The art is either more creepy or dark than the source. The stories go into depth on what happened to make everything so dark, such as characters dying.
  • Deal with the Devil: Meg makes one with the Fates to restore Hercules. It obviously goes wrong.
  • Death by Irony: Scar is killed by Nala in the same way as he killed Mufasa: getting thrown off a cliff.
  • Death of a Child:
    • Alice was caught and executed by order of the Queen of Hearts.
    • Wendy was killed by Captain Hook's pirates.
  • Disabled in the Adaptation: Ariel is missing an arm in her piece, and has tied a fork to the stump to replace it.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The first few works in the series don't have stories to explain the art.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Implied between Jane and the baby baboon in her installment, working together to survive after getting lost in the jungle.
  • Off with His Head!: Alice is caught by the Queen of Hearts and beheaded.
  • Never Trust a Title: The series features characters besides royalty. Many aren't even in the Disney Princess line.
  • Point of Divergence:
    • Alice is caught by the Queen of Heart's army. She ends up executed.
    • Hercules died trying to save Megara at the end of Hercules.
    • Mulan was killed by the Huns when her village was attacked.
    • Tarzan isn't there to save Jane from the angry baboons. She ends up lost with the baby baboon, and is forced to survive on her own.
    • Simba loses his fight with Scar. While Nala is able to avenge him almost immediately, she has to leave the side of the other lionesses to do so and they all fall to the hyenas in her absence, leaving Nala as the last lion of the Pride Lands.
  • Scary Scarecrows: Cinderella is portrayed as a scarecrow with button eyes, straw hair and a terrifying stitched-up smile. How she got that way is left to the imagination, but commenters (and at least one fanfic author) seem to concur that it happened as a result of breaking her deal with the Fairy Godmother and not getting home before midnight.
  • Sealed Good in a Can: In Aurora's portrait, the three good fairies are trapped inside her glass lantern.
  • Sole Survivor: Nala is the only lion left from her pride; the hyenas killed all the other lionesses and Scar killed Simba.
  • Tragic Villain: Pinocchio is brought to life by the Blue Fairy and forced to kill his father, the person he loves the most, and then used as a tool by his creator to collect souls so she can remain young and beautiful forever.
  • Two-Faced:
    • Half of the Blue Fairy's face is old and withered while the other is young and pretty.
    • Esmeralda receives horrible burns on half of her body, leaving half of her face beautiful and the other half with the skin burned away.
  • Undead Child:
    • Alice is dead and her body is possessed by the Cheshire Cat.
    • Wendy was drowned by Captain Hook.
