- Badass in Distress: Don, as he is tortured in front of Charlie and Alan.
- Cold-Blooded Torture: Doug hangs Don by the wrists and continually hits and whips him as he tries to force the other two captive men to answer the correct answers to his questions or Don would continue to suffer.
- Original Character: Doug, former friend of Charlie.
- We Used to Be Friends: Doug is this to Charlie as they used to hang out until Margaret got sick and Don had to move back in with them, which caused Doug to be forced to move out, causing him to resent his former friend and plan his revenge on the Eppes family.
