Through a Shattered Mirror is a set of drabbles written by RubyDragonQueen based off several Jojos Bizarre Adventure AUs.AUs covered in this series and their associated drabbles:

  • Joestar Platinum: Jonathan is resurrected as Star Platinum. Covered in "Nightmare", "By Your Side Til The End" and Ashes of Our Past.
  • Early Bird: Dio awakes years earlier and ends up kidnapping a younger Jotaro to train him against the Joestars, alongside a younger Kakyoin and Polnareff to act as companions and minions for Jotaro. Covered in "Time's Running Out", "Flight with Broken Wings" and "Almost There".
  • Behind Closed Doors: George is a much worse parent than canon and Dio plans to do something about it. Covered in "Jonathan's No Good Very Bad Evening", "Take a break, dumbass." and "For The Both Of You".
  • Vampiric Giorno: Giorno has inherited a couple vampiric traits from Dio and the Bucciarati Gang deal with the chaos from it. Covered in "Hungry Hungry Dhampir" and "Finger Food".
  • Echoes Act 4: Koichi dies during the Kira fight at Centipede Shoes and is resurrected as Echoes Act 4, an independent Stand. Covered in "Reunited".
  • Childhood Friends: Dio kidnaps Josuke to raise as a successor. In addition, the Nijimura brothers are Vanilla Ice's kids and Koichi is Hol Horse's younger brother. Covered in "Home Again".
  • Honor Bound: Kars cheats on the whole "Wedding Rings of Death" deal. Wammu disagrees with such a dishonorable act and switches sides. Covered in "A Sun All My Own", "I Won't Let You Face The Night Alone" and "You'll Be Home By Dawn".
  • Starswap: The Joestars all swap bodies. They’re taken midway through their adventure and put into another Joestar’s body right at the start of theirs. Jonathan and Jolyne swap, Giorno and Joseph swap, and Josuke and Jotaro swap. Stands do swap alongside their original user. Covered in "An Echo of Silence", "So This Was A Bad Idea", "Catching it with your face (Is generally a bad idea)", "A Butterfly In The Dark", "A Shift In Perspective" and "Freely Given".
  • Vampiric Jotaro: Dio turns Jotaro into a vampire during their final fight. Covered in "Inherit The Curse".
  • Supernova: During the final fight in Egypt, everyone except Jotaro survives. Covered (with a twist) in "Inherit The Curse".
  • Peanut Gallery: The Joestars are able to watch each others' parts without being able to interact. Covered in "With No Hope Remaining".
  • Unlikely Acquaintance: Wammu and Santana wake up several years earlier and witness Jonathan’s fight with Dio at the mansion. They’re interested by this strange warrior who managed to fight a vampire with nothing but his own strength and intuition and rescue him from the flames. Everyone thinks Jonathan’s dead, and Jonathan in turn thinks everyone died in the fire. Covered in "What We Found In The Ashes" and "While We Were Gone".
  • Sixth Sense: Jotaro is more in tune with all the time manipulation going on in the world. Covered in "Jotaro Goes Apeshit and We're All Confused".
  • Jotaro in Italy: Jotaro goes to Italy instead of Koichi and gets roped into the plot of Golden Wind. Covered in "Jotaro Goes Apeshit and We're All Confused".
  • Beaststars: The Joestars all have werebeast transformations consisting of a mix of different animals. (No relation to Beastars.) Covered in "Bloodstained Jaws (and Gentle Paws)", "Blood In The Water" and "A Serpent's Embrace".
  • An unnamed AU: DIO resurrects the Pillar Men (minus Kars) and controls them through fleshbuds. Covered in "A Wraith In Chains".
More detailed information about these AUs can be found here.

Through a Shattered Mirror provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: The major change from canon in "Unlikely Acquaintance" is Wamuu and Santana showing up during the events of Phantom Blood, several decades earlier than their canon appearance during Battle Tendency.
  • Adaptational Heroism: While Wamuu was already a Noble Demon in canon, in the Honor Bound AU he outright defects to Joseph's side due to being disgusted by Kars' dishonorable acts.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: While George was already a bit strict in canon, the version of him in Behind Closed Doors is outright emotionally abusive to Jonathan. Dio even compares him to Dario.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: In Behind Closed Doors, Dio drops his plans of tormenting Jonathan (and becoming more of a proper brother in the process) after finding out how much shit Jonathan is already going through.
  • Adaptation Species Change: All the Joestars in Beaststars are werebeasts.
    • Jotoro in "Inherit The Curse" is turned into a vampire.
  • Adaptational Superpower Change: There are multiple cases of characters being able to use Hamon that couldn't in canon, such as Erina in Behind Closed Doors and Trish in Starswap.
    • Giorno in Vampiric Giorno possesses additional vampiric traits such as retractable fangs and claws.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Diavolo in "Jotaro Goes Apeshit and We're All Confused" dies from beaten to death by Jotaro instead of being stuck in a death loop.
    • Tarkus in "Bloodstained Jaws (and Gentle Paws)" is torn apart by Jonathan's beast form instead of being disintegrated by Hamon.
  • Empty Shell: In "Hollow", having all six members of Sex Pistols taken out reduces Mista to this for a time
  • Horror Hunger: Giorno in "Vampiric Giorno", being more Dhampir-ish, suffers from a long-unsated hunger for human flesh.
    • Jotaro in "Inherit The Curse" has the standard need for human blood, even trying to drain Polnareff.
  • Painful Transformation: All the Joestars' transformations in the Beaststars AU, though Joseph's in "A Serpent's Embrace" is noted as being even worse than usual due to the presence of the poison rings.
  • Power Incontinence: Koichi in Reunited can't control his abilities, accidently harming his friends (and damaging Rohan's house) It's most likely tied to his emotional state, since he's able to gain control after a Cooldown Hug from Yukako.
  • Prematurely Grey-Haired: Koichi's hair in "Home Again" is described as "stress-bleached white".
  • Related in the Adaptation: In "Home Again" the Nijimura brothers are Vanilla Ice's sons and Koichi is Hol Horse's younger brother.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Wammu in "Honor Bound", Avdol, Iggy and Kakyoin in "Inherit the Curse", La Squadra Esecuzioni in "Hollow" and the Pillermen in "A Wraith In Chains"
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Joseph's thoughts on his plan in "So This Was A Bad Idea". Which considering said plan is "dive into Purple Haze's virus cloud and hope he can heal fast enough to counter it" is a vast understatement.
  • Trauma Button: Fire for Jonathan!Star Platinum in the Joestar Platinum AU due to reminding him of the Joestar mansion burning and his later death aboard the burning ship.
    • Jonathan passing out from fever in "Take a break, dumbass" sends Dio into a panic attack, bringing back painful memories of his mother's death.
    • Lisa Lisa is this for Giorno in the Starswap AU, being all too similar to his own cold and distant mother.
