The List of Secrets
is a Phineas and Ferb Fanfic written by FerbFlecher151. Initially conceived as a sequel to Across the Second Dimension, it quickly took on a life of its own and started Foreshadowing a deeper and more complex universe.
The story heavily uses Shakespearean tropes and motifs, like the Protagonist Journey to Villain and A Tragedy of Impulsiveness, to enhance the work. It also occasionally uses Christian symbolism, along with ideologies similar that to postmodern philosophy, determinism and compatibilism.
The author has stated that the film The Butterfly Effect had a major influence on the story.
Though somewhat popular at the time of release, the fact that nobody in the world cared for its incredibly pointless sequel made what was originally going to be a trilogy wither away into obscurity, before being deleted from the internet altogether.
Tropes found in this story:
- Darker and Edgier: Is noticeably MUCH darker then the kid friendly series, having surprising amounts of gore and violence, with themes that are... touchy, to say the least.
- From Bad to Worse: The story just loves taking pleasure beating up these characters, doesn't it?
- White-and-Grey Morality: Every character, including the villain, has reasons to do what they do.
- Subverted with Mitch, who is the only truly evil character. At least he gets what's coming to him.
- Obligatory Swearing: A lot of it.
