- Broken Pedestal: Superman becomes this to Danny for his poor treatment of Superboy, Danny even muttering that he can't believe that he ever looked up to the former after confronting him about it.
- Canon Welding: Vlad got the materials for cloning Danny from Cadmus.
- Locked Out of the Loop: Mentally lampshaded during the discussion on Amazo when Danny doesn't know who T.O. Morrow or Ivo are, and he wonders if everyone thinks that he knows everybody.
- Mythology Gag: Danny riding a motorcycle when transporting the Amazo parts could be a reference to the original concept of the show where he had one.
- Stealth Hi/Bye: Batman, as always. Danny notes that, even though he's the ghost, somehow Batman is the scary one, and even wonders at one point if Batman is secretly a ghost himself.
- Unskilled, but Strong: Danny is powerful, with numerous abilities, but unlike the other Team members, he lacks a mentor or any formal combat training beyond what he's managed to teach himself. Unlike Superboy at first, though, he's fully aware of the benefit of learning combat skills, pointing out to the latter when he's rankling at Black Canary trying to teach him that he could be in a situation where his powers could be nullified, and thus really need those skills.
- Villain Team-Up: Vlad already had ties to the Light, having got the cloning materials he used to make Danielle from Cadmus, but after seeing Danny talking to Superman, he decides to join the group fully.
