Fanfic / Its A Slaughterful Life

Go To

It's A Slaughterful Life is a "Wreck-It Ralph" fanfic created by jbwarner86, the same author behind Wreck-It Ralph 2 and taking place sometime after Ralph Breaks The Internet. But, despite the name, it has nothing to do with It's A Wonderful Life. It's the Christmas season, everyone's feeling jolly, Sugar Rush is safe, and Vanellope can enjoy a new life of happiness and freedom with something new. And yeah, while she won't be with her old friends for a while, especially Ralph, they can still keep in touch when Slaughter Race gets updated. But, it soon becomes apparent that her new life isn't all it's cracked up to be.

The story is now complete. Spoilers will be UNMARKED.

This Wreck-It Ralph Fan Fic contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Villainy: While Shank in the original movie was a caring, if rough, mentor figure to Vanellope, here she's only keeping Vanellope around so Slaughter Race can get more players.
  • Break the Cutie: Vanellope doesn't take it well when it's revealed that not only was she used just to get Slaughter Race more players, but that her code block isn't even the right one and she could've very well died if she took a nasty tumble. The other Sugar Rush racers also don't take it well at all when Calhoun inadvertently reveals Vanellope isn't coming back.
  • Big Damn Heroes: When it looks like the player base for Slaughter Race is going to storm the building Vanellope's hiding in, Calhoun flies in and starts decimating the players. Also, when a truck is about to hit Calhoun, Felix jumps in, eats a pie that gives him invincibility and crushes the truck like a soda can.
  • The Bus Came Back: Yesss and Maybe make a reappearance to stop Shank from getting Vanellope when she and the others go through the Internet Terminal. Spamley also appears in a gag after Shank is defeated and steals her car.
  • Continuation: Of "Ralph Breaks The Internet".
  • The Cavalry: Ralph, Felix, Sour Bill, Calhoun, and all of the Sugar Rush racers form one to save Vanellope from Slaughter Race.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Shank asking Felony to hack into Slaughter Race's code to make a new mission to capture Vanellope has a lot of parallels to putting a hit on someone
  • Villainous Breakdown: Shank is shown to get increasingly unhinged with every attempt at getting Vanellope failing more and more
  • Would Hurt a Child: The rest of Shank's gang and the Slaughter Race players have no qualms about hurting Vanellope or her fellow young racers just to keep her in the game/get a bunch of in-game money.
