Black Hole / Yellow Sun
is a RWBY AU, in which the Sol system was destroyed by an abomination called "Salem" from another dimension, with humanity fleeing through a spacetime anomaly to the Remnant system, and Huntsmen deal with the native megafauna while preparing for their enemy's return.

- Salem goes from a woman who has magical powers and was cursed with immortality to a star-system destroying abomination from some eldritch dimension.
- Inverted with the Grimm, who go from soulless monsters driven only to destroy humanity to the native (if still fairly aggressive) megafauna of Remnant.
- After the End: The solar system was devastated by Salem, with the survivors fleeing to the Remnant system.
- Fermi Paradox: Salem is the reason there aren't more alien civilizations out there, as she destroys them when she detects radio signals.
- First Love: Having focused on helping raise Ruby for most of her life, Blake is Yang's first real crush.
- Humans Advance Swiftly: Apparently, humans making it from the invention of the radio to space travel in just a few centuries is much faster than is typical for sapient species in this universe.
- No Biochemical Barriers: Averted, the native flora and fauna of the Remnant system and Earth-based life have mutually incompatible biochemistries, and if something from one system tries to eat something from the other they'll suffer severe gastrointestinal distress.
- Servant Race: In this universe the Faunus were created by deliberately adding animal genetic material in an attempt by the SDC to create a subspecies of human with lesser intelligence and a greater willingness to perform hard labor, but when they learned that it had failed in that regard, they used them as an engineered workforce regardless.
