A Golden Meridian
is an Alternate Universe Code Geass fanfic by Z98, the same author behind A Cold Calculus.
In a setting where C.C. runs the major religious organization Eden Vital, Lelouch and his sister Nunnally are taken in by the Grandmaster after Cardinal V.V. goes rogue and kills their mother, the favored wife of their father Emperor Charles. Seven years later, Lelouch returns to the public eye (and the notice of those who knew him) when he, recently promoted to Cardinal, is asked by the Emperor to assess Area 11's integration into the Empire. Things soon prove to be more than they seem, as the conflict within Japan becomes only part of a greater conflict for the fate of their very world.

- Lelouch actually knows how to fight in this version, personally killing Kusakabe in a duel.
- Kallen is enhanced after joining Eden Vital, complete with having a Geass.
- Driven to Suicide: Clovis decides to spare everyone (especially his family) of having to put him through trial by pulling a gun and shooting himself.
- For Want Of A Nail:
- Clovis actually is dealing with poison gas this time, as opposed to studying Codes.
