* NotGoodWithPeople: Thanks to being abandoned by his family and false friends, Johnny has turned into the second type of this trope. It's especially shown when he's annoyed just by talking to Yukiko, and makes no attempt at making small-talk with her. It takes him a while before he can start trusting, much less engage in conversations with others.

** According to WordOfGod, ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'' never became a movie series and ''Series/TheWalkingDead'' never became a show. Thus eliminating the pop culture fascination with romanticizing monsters and zombies, which has been replaced by a fascination with westerns thanks to both Franchise/TheDarkTower movie series and the ComicBook/{{Preacher}} TV show which had been released instead of ''Series/TheWalkingDead''.

''A Different Kind of Truth'' is a ''VideoGame/{{Persona 4}}'' and ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'' crossover by Creator/TheInfamousMan. Here, Johnny Joestar, the protagonist of ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureSteelBallRun Steel Ball Run]]'', replaces Yu Narukami as the protagonist of the game, bitterness and disability included. * ADateWithRosiePalms: Shadow Rise informs Yosuke that he spends ''way'' too much time on "bathroom and nighttime activities".

* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: Some Social Links have their respective characters changed, either from the ''Persona'' cast, ''Steel Ball Run'', and even from previous Jojo parts (albeit it's their alternate counterparts).

** Johnny's actual name is Jonathan, but he forcefully insists that people call him Johnny and even writes his name as 'Johnny Joestar' when introducing himself to his class. Reason why? He hated his nickname 'Jojo' which he got from the first two letters of his first and last name, so he just decided to refer to himself as Johnny to stop it. He doesn't even let Dojima, his own uncle, call him Jonathan.

* {{Gorn}}: As a crossover with Jojo, the fic has its fair share of Shadows spewing out blood and the protagonists getting injuries that give off tons of blood.

* LampshadeHanging: Johnny does this onto his unconscious Jojo-style posing. He admits it's slightly ridiculous, but also comments that it feels right. Even Chie is flabbergasted at how fashionable and loaded Johnny is when he's wearing an outfit straight from Gucci.

* TheMedic: Thanks to Personas such as Pixie (who's power is to heal small wounds on others by kissing the injury), Johnny has taken on this role. [[spoiler:When Teddy joins as a fighter with Kintouki-Douji, Johnny promptly cedes this role to him as Teddy is able to restore entire lost limbs with just one usage of his Persona in a manner reminiscent of [[Manga/VentoAureo Giorno Giovanna's Gold Experience]].]]

* AbsurdPhobia: Chie has Etomophobia/Acarophobia, or a fear of bugs. She absolutely flips out when a grasshopper lands on her hand.
* AbusiveParents: George Joestar toward Johnny in the emotional/mental sense, mostly stemming from him finding Johnny an unredeeming replacement and failure when compared to his more successful older brother whom George favored more.

* LonelyRichKid: Johnny definitely fits the bill.

* MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext: Gyro Zeppeli's jokes. ''All'' of them.
* ManlyTears: [[spoiler:Johnny has these both when he learns that he can regain his ability to walk in the TV World, and again when he loses that upon his return.]]

* SlapstickKnowsNoGender: Chie eats Mystery Food X delusionalally denying its lethality in this story and she suffers appropriately.

** Chie, after decking Johnny across the face and calling him a jerk for almost getting himself killed.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: There's a limit to [[OverdrawnAtTheBloodBank how much blood a person can lose]]. After fighting Shadow Rise and running away from Shadow Teddie, death via blood loss becomes a very real possibility for Gyro, Rise, and Johnny. The three become disoriented from how much blood they lose, and Johnny becomes nauseous enough to throw up.

** [[spoiler: Diego in this fic is half-Japanese instead of just British, since his biological mother was Japanese with "Kamiyama" as her maiden name.]]

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** All the injuries the IT get in the TV World make it very hard to live a double life, along with coming up with excuses to where the kidnapped victims were hidden and found.
** Dojima's gift to Johnny on Children's Day is a fairly cheap swimsuit. The reason why is due to the fact that Johnny's usually flamboyant clothes from brands such as Gucci are WAY out of Dojima's price range.
** When you almost get yourself killed and threaten to perform suicide if anyone tries to interfere with what you are doing, the people who care about you are understandably going to be very pissed at you. As Johnny soon found out after an angry Chie punched his lights out after finally getting on Slow Dancer.
** Despite the fact that he regained the ability to walk in the TV World, Johnny still has to be supported by one of the IT members. Yukiko notes that this must be because of the muscle atrophy that his legs have went through.
** When one fight leaves you grievously injured, another fight is not an option. As a result, when confronted by Shadow Teddie after narrowly surviving Shadow Rise, the group immediately decides to run and escape becomes the top priority.
** There's a limit to how much blood a person can lose. After fighting Shadow Rise and running away from Shadow Teddie, death via blood loss becomes a very real possibility for Gyro, Rise, and Johnny. The three become disoriented from how much blood they lose, and Johnny becomes nauseous enough to throw up.
** This is done with most of Johnny's behavior. Acting like a {{Jerkass}} most of the time makes people think, well, you're an asshole.
** When he walks on some assholes hitting someone, Johnny's first action is calling the police and he tries to not let things go physical since he's nothing but a scrawny teen in a wheelchair. As he says it, what is he supposed to do except fall on them?
** Gyro and Rise take many pains to avoid being seen together. As a former idol and a famous athlete, the tabloids would immediately leap to conclusions about their relationship.

* ButNotTooForeign: Johnny is a blonde-haired and blue-eyed American, as he was in ''Steel Ball Run''. But in the fic he is half-Japanese on his mother's side so that he could be Dojima's nephew.

** NecessaryDrawback: Unlike the game Personas, the Personas in the fic are like Stands in the sense that they have a specific power. However, this causes the IT to use that specific power in various ways that turn the abilities into deadly attacks.

* CryIntoChest: After the absolute mind-numbing hell that [[spoiler:Shadow Mitsuo]] put him through, Johnny breaks down into [[spoiler:Chie's arms]] at the end of chapter 54.

* EvolutionPowerUp: Tusk evolves when Johnny grows as a person. When Johnny willingly puts himself in danger without thinking of himself first, Tusk's form changes to Act 2 and gives Johnny the ability to launch nail bullets. [[spoiler:It happens again when Johnny learns how to spin his nails with the golden ratio, granting him Act 3]]

* LotusEaterMachine: [[spoiler:Shadow Mitsuo traps Johnny in one at the end of chapter 52 and lasts all the way up to Chapter 54, meant to push him over the DespairEventHorizon. It almost worked until Johnny realized something was wrong.]]

** Shadow Rise makes Rise's not-so positive feelings towards ''Music/{{Vocaloids}}'' apparent.

* RunOrDie: After their fight with [[spoiler:Shadow Rise]], the two choices the group have when confronted with [[spoiler: Shadow Teddie]] is stay and fight (and very likely die in the process) or run. Their answer? ''The Joestar Secret Technique''.

* GenreThrowback: To old-school Shounen manga/anime and Westerns much like ''Steel Ball Run;;.

* AdaptedOut: As of this writing, the titular "Steel Ball Run" racing competition and the Saint's Corpse have not been featured or alluded to. Justified since the story is set in Japan and in 2011, in contrast to the ''Steel Ball Run'' timeline occurring in the 1890's. Similarly, Diego Brando has also yet to be introduced.

** Naoto wears what appears to be a copy of [[CoolHat Jotaro's hat]].

** Emilio Pucci is one to Enrico Pucci, and he can't be more different than his main series counterpart.

* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: Some Social Links have their respective characters changed, either from the ''Persona'' cast, ''Steel Ball Run'', and even from previous Jojo parts.

* GenreShift: The scenes involving [[spoiler:Mitsuo]] and [[spoiler:King Moron]] evoke the feelings of dread and discomfort from a horror movie or novel, unlike the game which both are from.

* AgeLift: In ''Steel Ball Run'', Johnny and Gyro were 19 and 24 years old respectively. In order to fit into the alternate setting of this story, they are much younger as they are attending Yasogami High School as a second-year and third-year, making them 16 and 17.

* AlwaysSecondBest: Johnny was this to his father when compared to Nicholas.

** Emilio Pucci is one for Enrico Pucci, and he can't be more different than his main series counterpart.

* AlternateSelf: Noriyuki Kakyoin is this fic's version to Noriaki Kakyoin, albeit lacking in his main series counterart's traits and characteristics besides being a ChickMagnet in Yasogami High School.

* AwfulTruth: A common theme with the Shadows when it comes to the darker parts of a person. They do this to force their owners to refuse them, and in doing so causes them to go berkerk from being rejected and attempt to kill the original. Accepting their dirty laundry, however, subdues and calms the Shadow down, becoming a Persona in the process. As all members of the IT can attest to, this is much harder than it sounds.

* CompositeCharacter: Johnny fills in Yu Narukami's shoes on the ''Persona'' side of things. Aside from being related to the Dojimas, however, [[{{Downplayed}} that's as much of Yu's traits as Johnny shares]].

** Noriyuki is extremely popular with girls, [[UnwantedHarem much to]] [[NoGuyLikesToBeChased his chagrin]].

* IllKillYou: Johnny is understandably pissed after he breaks free from [[spoiler:Shadow Mitsuo's dream world and declares his intent to kill the son of a bitch. The Investigation Team stops him before he can succeed]].

* BirdsOfAFeather: Gyro with Yukiko and Teddie due to their {{Cloudcuckoolander}} tendencies, especially that the latter two are the only ones who understands and laughs at the former's lame puns.

* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Gyro has his fair share of quirky moments.

* SarcasmBlind: Teddie is definitely this, Johnny even lampshades that bears just don't seem to understand sarcasm.
