- Berserk Button: Ballista users are this for the army as a whole, to the point where Merlinus has to warn Miledy and Percival off from attacking Igrene, who is on their side and also pregnant.
- Big Brother Attraction: Clarine is even more... attached to Klein than she is in the game. She eventually moves on with Rutger.
- Dead Guy Junior: Lilina and Sue both end up having a son and daughter, and both opt to name them after their late parents (respectively Hector and Florina, Rath and Lyndis). Sophia, meanwhile, chooses to name her daughter after her late mother-in-law, Ninian.
- Divorce Is Temporary: Astol and Igrene end up getting re-married and having another child.
- I Need a Freaking Drink: Chapter 31 has Merlinus demanding Dorothy make him a cup of tea spiked with the strongest alcohol she can find.
- Lethal Chef: Lalum, in a rare moment of not being scolded for an issue related to "stripping, sex, nudity, or some combination of the above" manages to make chicken soup the color of moss.
- Marry Them All: Eventually, Lalum manages to rope Roy into marrying all six of his potential wives.
- The Love Triangle between Guinivere, Miledy, and Elen ends in Guinivere married to both of them. Despite Merlinus's insistence that it isn't valid (due to his ban on marriages after the above wedding), it ends up sticking.
- Only Sane Man: Others grip the Sanity Ball on occasion, but poor Merlinus is the only one with a consistent grip on it.
- Shipper on Deck: Bartre ships Roy/Sophia. Echidna ships Roy/Lalum. Yuno, despite Merlinus's apprehension, is thrilled to learn that her sisters Tate and Shanna are in relationships with Klein and Roy, respectively. She doesn't even seem to mind that Shanna is sharing Roy with five other women.Merlinus: "That's kinda hot" is not the appropriate response.

- Dieck and Echidna's daughter ends up being named Knuckles.
