What is a Person Worth?

Even in the story, where superstition causes a family to view their son as a good luck charm, cause them to neglect and abuse him, the son is unwilling to destroy the family to get even with them without giving them a chance to redeem themselves. And the family realizes to their horror what they have done to their son and want to be better so they can never make the same mistake again.
  • In Chapter 4, Luna is horrified when she discovers that Lincoln's furniture was sold and destroyed because the other Louds thought it was also contaminated with Lincoln's supposed bad luck. This makes her realize just how badly both she and the other Louds have been treating him lately.
  • Lincoln has every right to be furious with his family for the Bad Luck incident, and wants nothing to do with them, but he isn't spiteful enough to call the police on them in the earlier chapters because he knows that the cops getting involved will destroy the family forever (though it doesn't stop him from threatening to get the police involved if the Louds try to force him to come back home before he knows if he can even forgive them). Nor is he spiteful enough to see Lana get physically brutalized by a group of bullies and let them get away with it. Once he beats them all up in retaliation, he declares to Chandler that he's not going to let anyone mess with any of his other sisters if he can help it, either. Furthermore, Lincoln refuses to blame Lily for what happened because she’s a baby and wouldn’t have had an understanding of what was going on in the first place.
    • Also, while he swore to himself that he would make Lynn pay for what she did to him and said to him if she crossed his path again, Lincoln can't bring himself to actually hurt her when they meet for the first time since their fight. This is mainly because he notices that she has been wounded more than he had suspected during their fight (He ruptured her Achilles tendon when he bit her leg, so she has to wear a brace on her foot and needs crutches to walk until she recovers) and notices she is visibly scared of him.
  • Mr. Grouse is utterly disgusted when he realizes that the Louds were serious about kicking Lincoln out of the house; he didn't say or do anything before because he thought the Louds were playing a prank on Lincoln for lying about being bad luck. He even threatens to call the cops on Lynn Sr. and Rita if he sees them do that to another one of their kids.
  • Conner Pingrey is a mild Jerkass who holds a grudge on Lincoln for a rather petty reason. However, even he finds Chandler's assault on six-years-old Lana repulsive. Played With when he decides to help Chandler prank Lincoln as revenge anyway in exchange of a big sum of money, but chapter 14 hints that he has second thoughts about doing it and his inner thoughts later show that he would be perfectly happy to double-cross him after getting the money. He's also furious when Chandler uses him to frame Lincoln for cheating on Ronnie, though that one's personal, and furious that Chandler also used Cristina during his plot.
  • Luan is disgusted when her sisters think her sarcastic statement about how their parents must be thrilled that Lincoln now knows that they know he's at Ronnie's house (which the other sisters all clearly worry about how they could drive him to cut them out of his life completely), is an actual joke.
  • While Lincoln didn't regret making Luan realize how dangerous her April Fool's Day pranks could be in Chapter 16, he did regret making her cry and hate herself for it and goes out of his way to get her out of her self-loathing.
  • Bobby is angry at Lori for treating Lincoln horribly and has every right to dump her. However, when she tells him that she understands if he will never forgive her, he realizes that she truly regrets her role over Lincoln's mistreatment and decides to give her a second chance even though he's still disappointed in her.
  • While Lincoln was still on the fence about forgiving Lynn as of Chapter 21, he was willing to talk to her after Lori expressed worry about her mental health and actively consoles her when she starts breaking down.
