Darth Wiki: Transform
This is a page on Kraken's superhero comic project.

Chronos City. A metropolis built around the trade of time-pieces. At the surface, it seems to be a fairly normal place to live; a few superheroes here-and-there, some magic, some supervillains, the occasional alien invasion, same as anywhere. But beneath that "typical city" veneer lies a conflict so old, so secret, so widespread that even the police and the government are pawns.

On the streets, the superhero special police division known as the Watch tackles metahuman crimes, deals with out-of-control super-criminals, and volunteer rescue work. In the shadows, the Watchmen clash with the Syndicate, the oldest criminal organization in the world. Alliances with dark powers are made on both sides. Corruption is rampant. Total chaos threatens to engulf the city. And at the center, a young witch fresh from the academy and a loose cannon cyborg.

This is a superhero buddy-cop story.

The Watch
The Watch is a special provisional police enforcement division, their ranks composed entirely of superheroes. It was a product of the Superhuman Enforcement Policy of 1960, when superheroes and police banded together or clashed in the pursuit of justice during World War Two. Since it's founding alongside other initiatives such as the Guard, the Wardens, and the Sheriffs, the Watch has distinguished itself through high arrest rates, efficiency in solving cases, and its spotless image.

In truth, the Watch is a badly-funded, under-staffed organization of superhumans dedicated to preserve the peace and enforce justice by any means necessary. Corruption comes in varying degrees of severity, carried on in secret cells of several Watchmen, but many are not involved.

The Watch was named after the Watchman, the first superhero of Chronos City, who prowled the clock-towers in search of Nazi spies with his lantern of ghostly grey, worked police to bring down the mafia Tempolvi Clan, and sacrificed himself in the line of duty.

Watchmen do not have actual uniforms except for formal occasions (which is a dark blue hooded greatcoat with brass buttons, black trousers, and a brass lantern, based on the first Watchman's costume), but bear a shield-shaped badge of polished brass that depicts a hooded figure holding out a lantern in front of the Chronos City skyline, with "CHRONOS CITY WATCH" etched beneath, along with the words "capio occasio" (meaning "choose the moment").

The Watch is entirely structured by two-Watchman groups each, the ranks being Junior Watchman, Senior (Watchman), Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Commander.

The Watch has many bureaus; Operations, Time, Organized Crime, Investigation, Intelligence, Management (administration), and Patrol Bureaus. It also has the Aquatics, Special Victims, First Response (counter-terrorism), Rescue, Mystical, Aviation, Meta-Containment, Psionics, Internal Affairs, Subterfuge, Superscale and Cyber Crime divisions.

Duty Roster
Bureau of Patrol
The Bureau of Patrol is the public face of the Watch, its officers the most often seen on the streets.
  • Anthony "Thermite" Blatteau is a Senior Watchman of the Patrol Bureau, formerly of Organized Crime and First Response. Described as an "emotional powderkeg" by Chief Watchman Evening, Blatteau is a quiet, withdrawn, vindictive person with a silent rage that boils at his being and a vendetta with the Syndicate both for using his work for crime when he worked for Wave Broadcasting and Nuada Prosthetics, and abusing the image of superheroism that he tried to re-create himself. As such, Blatteau is what police chiefs everywhere call "loose cannons" with his tendency to ignore supervision, bend rules, and destruction. Blatteau is a scientific mind of superhuman standards, specializing in the fields of cybernetics and robotics, having built and operating the Thermite Array, a bio-reactive multi-form powered armor system based on tesseract technology. It consists of "Egg", a smartskin plastic-steel web that serve as a platform for the interfacing armor parts summoned and formed by the Thermite Modules, based around termite castes. As a default, the Egg Array is at top human speed and strength, can shrug off small arms fire, can see in the dark, and tap into wireless networks. By consuming a bio-electric cartridge stored in its companion module, the Array can release enormous amounts of power into a single explosive action, usually a finishing attack (known as "Final Actions")
    • Hope is the name and command code for the Worker Module, which equips the Array with heavily-armored and bulky attachments, with elongated and large arms and hands, enhanced with insect-like leg hydraulic springs. Hope's primary purpose is that of heavy lifting and enduring damage, and can take and return hits that can shatter tanks. The arms can elongate to twice their length, lift up to a hundred tons in weight, strike with the force of twice that amount. The hands can sharpen, fuse into a sharp point, and rotate at the wrists to produce a powered drill. The Worker Module possesses a three cylinder system and its Final Actions involve punching, crushing, and fist attacks.
    • Myrmidon is the name and command code for the Warrior Module, which equips the Array with medium armor and flexible joints. Hope possesses two claws on both arms beside two bladed fins which can cut through steel, or detach and re-form into an axe, the axe head ejecting from the shoulder plate and the shaft from the shin plates. Strong, fast, and durable enough to take a few hits from some of the strongest superhumans around, Myrmidon is built for engaging metahumans directly, and does so well. The Warrior Module possesses an assault-rifle type magazine, with a capacity of six cartridges, and its Final Actions revolve around aerial kicking attacks.
    • Atom is the name and command code for the King Module, which equips the Array with light armor, a high-powered jetpack, stabilizer wings, and special infrared and telescoping lenses. In the skies, the Atom is fine apparatus for a scout, capable of supersonic speeds, can shrug off machine gun fire, and is armed with an extremely durable saber for its slashing attacks. The King Module possesses a rifle-like bolt-action three-cartridge system, its Final Actions all variations on boosts in speed, strength, and slashing attacks.
    • Psyche is the name and command code for the Queen Module, which equips the Array with the Aegis Cocoon (a nearly-indestructible chrysalis of metal and force-fields), suspension gel, the Mother Helm which controls the vast robotic swarm that is Psyche's tools, weapons, and defense, levitators, and rotor-blade wings. Psyche controls a vast robotic insect swarm, numbering in the hundreds, stored within the Aegis Cocoon itself (which can be launched from a magnetic cannon) as well as a payload lining on the wings. The drones are all based on an a base egg module, which is armored and closed until activated. Swarm drones include the blasting cannon drone, the slower bomber drone, the swift chomper drone, the electric stinger drone, the strong lifter drone, and the big-winged and fast scout drone. The Queen Module is equipped with a single pump-shotgun-action cartridge, which causes several drones to suicide-bomb various targets or ram the opponent at high speeds with the Aegis Cocoon itself.
    • Flicker is the name and command code for the Forager Module, which equips the Array with light armor and various tools and sensor equipment. Flicker is capable of taking heavy-weapons fire and running about as fast as a car, but its true purpose is to find and detect things, with lenses that can detect . Flicker is built to be an extension of the Egg Form, with special attachable parts on module pluggers on his shoulders, arms, and legs. It's standard paraphernalia are two scanners on the shoulders, a jackhammer module on the left knee, a loudspeaker module on the right leg, a radar-dish on the left arm, and a combination of metal-cutting shears and crossbow on the right. With the crossbow, Flicker can shoot arrows at armor-piercing velocities and at point-point precision. The Forager Module is equipped with a disposable cartridge magazine that is its abdomen, holding thirteen cartridges, its Final Actions based around shots of the arrows.
  • Anka "Anna Arcana" is a junior Watchman of the Patrol Bureau, a recent graduate of the Academy. A survivor and heroine of the Magical Girl against Malevolenka, Anka has a deep codependency problem, and all her life has not only played second-fiddle to a "chosen one"-type Magical Girl, but also played servant to said Magical Girl. As such, she has a deep compulsion to seek out a new "mistress" to serve under and be dominated, and directed. As such, she is often at odds with her partner Thermite with her by-the-book ways, adherence to procedure, and tendency to play by the rules. Anka is an accomplished sorceress and markswoman, skilled with four different firearms to focus four different magical disciplines, and will blossom into a capable detective. As an Arcanum Seer, Anka's passive magic focus-tools transform into offensive magical firearms at her command.
    • The Oracle form, based on the Wand Suit of the Minor Arcana, is based around the magical discipline of Divination, granting the power of clairvoyance. In its passive form, the focus-tool of Divination is the staff, with which one can tap into and feel the patterns of life. In its offensive form, Anka favors the M40A5 bolt-action Remington Model 700 rifle, to see with a discerning eye that which must be removed from the web of life. As the Oracle, Anka can shoot dust off a fly's wing at a a mile, disappear, become unseen, and view the true nature of objects from the same distance, like an owl.
    • The Mystic form, based on the Pentacle Suit of the Minor Arcana, is based on the magical discipline of Thaumaturgy, granting the power of energy redirection and/or disruption. In its passive form, the focus-tool of Thaumaturgy is the broomstick, with which one can sweep away chaff to allow geopathic lines to flow more smoothly, or to do the reverse. In its offensive form, Anka favors the Mossberg 500, which she uses to block, redirect, or outright disrupt explosively energy flows with the bad luck of a black cat. As the Mystic, Anka can shoot things until they explode, or help in their reconstruction.
    • The Sibyl form, based on the Sword Suit of the Minor Arcana, is based around the magical discipline of Invocation, granting the power of energy absorption through the uniting of spirit and sorcerer. In its passive form, the focus-tool of Invocation is the ritual dagger, with which one sacrifices blood, life, time, or even concepts to the invoked spirits. In its offensive form, Anka favors a pair of Colt 1851 Navy Revolvers, which always prick her hands when she wields them and are carved with sigils that are prayers to twenty-five different gods and minor spirits. As the Sibyl, Anka is a grandmistress gunslinger, able to perform impossible trick-shots, teleport over short distances, as well as draw and react with the inhuman speed of a raven.
    • The Stargazer form, based on the Chalice Suit of the Minor Arcana, is based around the magical discipline of Astrology, granting the power of precognition. In its passive form, the focus-tools of Astrology are the mortar and pestle, with which one grinds tea-leaves and entrails to match the whispers of the stars. In its offensive form, Anka favors the Tsar Cannon, which she uses to bombard into oblivion criminals (who are a cowardly and superstitious lot). As the Stargazer, Anka can blow giants out of the sky with pin-point accuracy and the ferocity of the bear.
