"Dad's Army, Up Pompeii, Are You Being Served?, Not On Your Nellie, On the Buses, Fenn Street Gang, Please Sir!, Carry On Girls, Carry On Matron, Bless This House - I've worked in some of the best TV and films in light entertainment."

Wendy Richard, MBE, born Wendy Emerton, (20 July 1943 — 26 February 2009), was a British actress best known for playing Miss Brahms in every episode of Are You Being Served? and Pauline Fowler in EastEnders.

After she left drama school, she wrote to agents to try and find work in films. She had one scene in Help! that was cut from the final release and had a small role in Doctor in Clover.

Her first break on TV came in 1967 as Joyce Harker in The Newcomers. After the show ended, she was cast as Private Walker's girlfriend in a few episodes of Dad's Army. In 1972, she was cast as Miss Brahms in Are You Being Served?. She also returned to the role for the film and in Grace & Favour.

The year AYBS? ended, Richard was cast as Pauline Fowler in EastEnders. She stayed with the role until 2006, when she decided to leave the series, and Pauline was Killed Off for Real.

She died of breast cancer at the age of 65.
