Tommy Frederick Godfrey, (20 June 1916 — 24 June 1984), was a British character actor best known for playing working-class Cockneys.

His career began in variety shows, where he appeared as a tap dancer in the act Godfrey, Randall and Deane. After this, he went solo as a comedian and often appeared as a principal boy in pantomimes. Following this was a long period of bit parts on the big and small screen, alongside a bigger role as Arnold Pugh in On the House.

In 1972, he was cast as Arthur, one of Eddie's co-workers, in Love Thy Neighbour. Arthur much like Eddie, a socialist, a card player, and a lover of drink; However, unlike Eddie, Arthur did not share the same racial prejudices.

In 1978, he was cast in his other biggest comedy role, as Sid the school caretaker in Mind Your Language. Sid was hard of hearing and always tried to trick the students into buying him drinks and lending him money.

He died at the age of 68.
