Born in September of 1936, career criminal-turned-novelist James Fogle lived a fascinating (if irresponsible) life. He first got in trouble with the law as a teen. Yet he wasn't stupid. Despite having only a 6th grade education, Fogle wrote a number of autobiographical books. The most famous, Drugstore Cowboy, was made into a critically-acclaimed film. Sadly, everything else he wrote remains unpublished.

Fogle died of Mesothelioma (a type of cancer) in 2012. At the time he was in prison for robbing a Seattle pharmacy.
