"You'll have to guess my age. We recently stopped telling people. I must be getting old I suppose!"

Caroline Claire Corson Hutchison, (22 April 1948 — 9 February 1988), was a British actress best known for playing Vera Patterson in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.

She started acting on TV in 1976, appearing in one episode of Within These Walls. In the rest of The '70s, she only had two more TV roles, both in 1978, appearing in one episode of BBC2 Play of the Week and in the Made-for-TV Movie Real Live Audience.

Hutchison started The '80s appearing in an episode of Play for Today. Indeed, most of her career had her appearing in dramas, with roles coming in For Maddie with Love, When the Boat Comes In, Strangers, and Reilly, Ace of Spies. She also appeared in Gandhi.

In 1983, Hutchison was cast in her best-known role, that of Vera Patterson, Dennis' estranged wife, in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet. Throughout the first series, the two were going through a divorce before Vera wanted him back, just as Dennis began to get close to Dagmar, whom he had met in Germany. Ultimately, Dennis took Vera back, and she was due to return for Series 2, but Hutchison was suffering from cancer at the time and Vera was written out. Her roles in the script were given to two new characters, Dennis' sister Norma and new girlfriend Christine Chadwick.

She died of cancer at the age of 39.
