X-23: Deadly Regenesis is a 2023 comic book limited series from Marvel Comics. It's written by Erica Schultz, with art by Edgar Salazar and color art by Carlos Lopez.

The series, set in the shared Marvel Universe, is an Interquel starring Laura Kinney, the titular X-23.

X-23: Deadly Regenesis contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Flashback Cut: Several scenes in the first two issues cut back and forth between the present and the past, typically with a single flashback panel of Laura in an identical pose but a different context. One example cuts from Laura slicing a beam in a burning building back to Laura, in costume and accompanied by Ka-Zar, cutting through a sapling in the jungle.
  • Interquel: The story's set at a point when the X-Men had met Laura, but were still based on Utopia, long before the Krakoan Age stories of the 2020s.
  • It's Personal with the Dragon: Haymaker was the brother of a mook Laura killed on a mission while controlled by the Facility. He wants revenge and they empowered him to take it, with the caveat that he must leave her alive for recapture.
  • Punk in the Trunk:
    • Haymaker transports a manacled and unconscious Laura in the trunk of his car after defeating her in the second issue.
    • A flashback shows Laura hiding in a trunk when she was working for Kimura. She then bursts through the back seat while the car's moving, killing everyone inside and then torching the crashed car.
  • Variant Cover: The first issue has ten variant covers in addition to the standard one. Nine focus on Laura, by various artists, with the tenth showing new antagonist Haymaker.
  • Victory Pose On Person: A flashback in issue 2 shows Kimura defeating and subsequently posing on Laura with one foot on her back.
