The Boy of Steel sets out to become a Man!

"This is my chance to go somewhere new and help people who need it. We can't just leave them out there. Just ask yourself Kelex - what would Superman do?"
Superboy

Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow is a 2023 limited series published by DC Comics starring Superboy.

Conner Kent has had a rough couple of years. First, he was erased by the Flashpoint, only to return and discover that Jon Kent has taken his place as Superman's heir. With the Earth now home to an entire Superfamily, where does the hybrid clone of Superman and Lex Luthor fit in? Determined to carve his own path, Kon-El turns to one place where he won't be competing with his estranged Family members: the stars! When a distress call from a section of the universe that has never seen the S-shield before reaches Earth, Kon jumps at the chance to make a name for himself. What he finds out in space is a Dominator who has created super-soldiers by capturing innocents and using their DNA, then exterminating the subjects once their usefulness has run out. Sounds like a job for Superboy! Too bad he will also have to contend with the mysterious Cosmoteers, who think Superboy is one of the Dominator's experiments...

Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow provides examples of the following:

  • Armor-Piercing Response: When Superman finds out what Conner had been up to he's worried and scolds Kelex for allowing it. Kelex apologizes for worrying him, but responds if he's so concerned about Conner why it took two weeks for him to notice he was gone? Clark's expression says it all.
  • Interquel: The mini-series is set in-between the events of Action Comics #1050 and #1051 (or right between the Dark Crisis and Dawn of DC eras.
  • Jumped at the Call: Soon as Kelex finds a call for help that no one is responding to, Conner eagerly decides to head out there and assist.
